Title: Break a slump?
Post by: forsheet on 10/24/05, 11:46:35 PM
When you guys are playing and your timing is just off and you can't hit for shiz, what do you do to get out of the slump?  I usually drink more or start talking more instead of concentrating too hard.

Everybody I play against is awful, so this hasn't been a problem.  If I'm going to the COTUT next year, I need to find better competition.

If I'm drinking, I'll usually take a giant drink.  The burp that follows does the trick most of the time.

I'm shocked that DarkSide hasn't quite chimed in yet...  He usually recommends something in the starhole variety...

When I'm in a slump, the best thing for me is to calm the fuck down.  I'm usually drunk at this point and blaming my opponent for every single bad thing that has gone my way, attributing it to luck.  A one or two game hiatus to get to my happy place is definitely best...

I am a firm believer in shuffling the line-up (i.e. what place you put your pinch hitters in) and also going with out-of-order pitching rotations to get things turned around when they aren't going your way in a series.

But when my swing's off, such as I'm hitting too much shit opposite field, I'll put on the Tettleton for a few innings, and that usually gets me back into rhythm.

Also I utter very long strings of profanities, which, when all else fails, tends to get the job done.

Also I utter very long strings of profanities, which causes my opponent to throw the game so that I don't have a heart attack and they become liable.

I am the one who is liable after property is broken in a murderous furor.

I hit using the Tettleton Stance. Sometimes makes things happen that normally don't. This is far from scientific, though. I have no real reason for doing this than anger. Sometimes works, though

Throwing the control.  It's magical!
