I was reading ESPN magazine today, and it had a mention of RBI great Keith Hernandez. The only online story I could find to corroborate ESPN's account was here (http://www.nypost.com/news/regionalnews/12074.htm).
To sum it up - he recently renovated his house, and afterward he couldn't find his World Series rings. He called the police, and it was fairly big news. Eventually, he found the rings, still in his house. According to ESPN (not in the Post story linked above, however), they were under his couch.
That's funny that you posted this Beef, because I just finished reading the same blurb in ESPN the Rag. I guess he reported his ring stolen, only to find it under his couch cushion. I wonder if Seinfeld helped to lose it.
"I can't help him move! I barely know him. That's a big step in a male relationship."
"I despise Keith Hernandez."
"I'm Keith Hernandez."
Sorry about that wild Seinfeld tangent. That happens to be one of my favorite episodes.
"That's one magic loogie."
Good to know he's human, we all lose shit under the couch. Wonder if he found any old coke down there...
And no prob with the Seinfeld reference, we're all big fans. Notice Keith's nickname on the Mets page:

I love how we all kick former RBI players while they're down. It must be great to be in the Hall of Shame.
Great story!
Made me think of one from a couple years ago. My friends and I all used to hang out with the daughter of Don Gullett (RBI Arcade & Reds pitching coach). During the season and spring training he and his wife were never there so they had people over all the time and a world series ring came up missing. Like a month later some homeless guy finds it like 45 min away on the bank of the Ohio river and returns it. Not quite as good as the Hernandez story but I figured anything involving an RBI player (even if it's arcade) is worth mentioning.
Does anyone really know how the ring got out of the house? We once stole every phone out of this guys house at a party. I still haven't forgiven myself for that one. But I still can't help to laugh about it.
As far as I remember, nobody ever really found out who or when but i guess anytime you have a party stuff comes up missing.
A couple years back we were at some girls party that we knew and there wasn't much going on so we decided to see which one of us could steal the most random useless thing. I took a mop, a buddy of mine took a can of soup and some hamburger helper, another friend got like a $5 bottle of cheap ass vodka and the other guy with us took the Above the Rim soundtrack tape and Too Short's first cd. I guess I feel kinda bad too but I'm not really sure if the girl even missed any of that stuff.
Sperling and Potsie had a habit of taking stuff at parties in college. Before they settled down we amassed a few CD books, some random food, a Pittsburgh Steelers lawn chair etc etc. They even took a TV out of a house but eventually told the guy where it was...
