Recap:
The Fighting Tony Danzas held the Frank Tanana All-Stars' offense in check for most of the game in their season-opening game at Tengen Stadium on Monday. However, it was the one inning where they couldn't that turned out to be their downfall, as the Frank Tanana All-Stars used a seven-run third inning to propel themselves to a 12-7 victory in the franchise's first-ever game.
Bret Saberhagen picked up the win and also drove in two with a double in the deciding third inning to lead the Frank Tanana All-Stars to the victory. Roger Clemens and Charlie Kerfeld combined to give up one run in the final five innings to close out the game. Gary Carter, Reggie Jackson and Mike Schmidt each homered for The Fighting Tony Danzas.
