Title: Fantasy RBI Week 3 Thread
Post by: fightonusc on 12/12/05, 01:40:11 PM
Here is the schedule for Week 3:

Gantry Division

The Nimrods @ The Creamy Pirates
The South Arkansas Penis @ THE Parish State University

Doverbi Division

The Poopydicks @ The Fighting Tony Danzas
The Frank Tanana All-Stars @ The Hip Young Popes

Interdivisional Game

The Unholy Legions of Doom @ The OC

If you want to make any roster/line-up moves, please get them to me ASAP. The Week 3 ROM is attached - you'll notice that the player stats have been changed to reflect each player's current season stats. Pitcher ERAs are handled the same as last year - because Nightwulf's editor cannot handle two-digit ERAs, I had to slide the decimal point over for everyone. Therefore, if the screen shows an ERA of 1.16, that's an actual ERA of 11.60. Or, an on-screen ERA of 0.90 is an actual ERA of 9.00. You get the idea.

The Web site is updated weekly with standings and now stats, including downloadable Excel sheets with each player's stats.

Done. I'll fix the stats to reflect that EDavis is a Penis. I also fixed one error on U7's team - updated ROM is attached...

The Nimrods @ The Creamy Pirates game is complete. Video file is attached - use the most recent ROM from earlier in the thread. Even if you're a casual fan, you'll want to watch this game - it's a doozy.

Here's the basics, as copied from an earlier post:

Steps for watching a game video using VirtuaNES:

- Load the same ROM into VirtuaNES as was used to make the video
- Go to "Movie" and open "Replay"
- Open the video
- Watch and enjoy

You can download the VirtuaNES emulator here (http://www.angel.ne.jp/~kisaraka/virtuanes/bin/virtuanes092e.zip). I post the game ROMs at the beginning of the week (you can also download them from Nightwulf's RBI Editor (http://nightwulf.rbicentral.com/rbi-editor/). The game videos are attached as games are completed.

So again, open the correct ROM up in VirtuaNES (as if you were going to play a game). After the ROM opens, go into the "Movie" menu and open "Replay". Find the video file (you have to save it somewhere on your computer) and open it. The video should start playing immediately.

Why the fuck did my 2nd baseman go after that pop up, that may have been something I've never seen before in Watch play.  Neither team should have won that game.

I had never seen anything like that, either. I kept thinking "Wow, is he going to range out to get that?" I guess the answer was "No."

I think Don Robinson had the worst performance while getting a victory of all time.

Recap:

Tom Brunansky hit three home runs and drove in six to lead The Creamy Pirates to a wild 19-18. ten-inning victory over The Nimrods on Monday in a Gantry Division game played at Tengen Stadium. The game featured seven lead changes, and The Creamy Pirates (2-1) had to overcome deficits in both the ninth and tenth innings to pull out the win.

Darrell Evans homered twice and drove in five for The Nimrods (0-3) while Tim Laudner added a home run and six RBI. However, the hero of the day might have been Tim Raines, whose rope to LF barely cleared the wall for a walk-off, two run homer to rally The Creamy Pirates from a one-run deficit.

Don Robinson picked up the win for The Creamy Pirates despite giving up five earned runs in two innings of relief work.

Recap:

Dick Schofield's two-run homer in the bottomof the ninth led The Fighting Tony Danzas to a shocking 17-16 upset of The Poopydicks in a Doverbi Division game played on Monday at Tengen Field. The ninth inning homer barely cleared the right field wall, and was Schofield's second of the game. Schofield finished the game with five RBI, as did teammate Gary Carter.

The Poopydicks (2-1) appeared to have received a huge break in the eighth inning when The Fighting Tony Danzas' (1-2) Harry Spilman was thrown out at home trying to score on a John Morris sacrifice fly for an inning-ending double play to get out of a bases-loaded jam. However, they were done in by their weak hitting in the final three innings as they saw a 16-11 lead get whittled away.

Jesse Orosco threw a scoreless ninth inning to get the victory for The Nimrods. Lou Whitaker led The Poopydicks hitting attack with a home run and four RBI.

Something I hadn't seen before - in the 10th inning of the CP/U7 game, both computer teams attempted to sub for their #8 hitters after the benches had been used up.  They paused the game but weren't able to select a new batter, since there wasn't one there for them.  They didn't attempt to sub for the pitcher after that, however (probably because there were no more pitchers, so they knew they couldn't do that).

I've seen that happen several times where the Computer tries to pinch-hit for a pitcher but can't because there are no PHs left, but never with trying to pinch hit a new #8 hitter for the second time in a game.

Recap:

Jeffrey Leonard hit for the cycle, driving in eight runs as part of a 7-for-7 day as The South Arkansas Penis took control of the Gantry Division with a resounding 22-9 victory over THE Parish State University on Wednesday afternoon at Tengen Stadium. Leonard hit two home runs, while teammate Kirk Gibson also hit two home runs while driving in six and scoring five times.

Bert Blyleven threw a complete game 20-hitter, gutting it out despite throwing an amazing 82 pitches. Blyleven also helped himself at the plate, going 3-for-6 while scoring twice and driving in a run for The South Arknsas Penis (3-0).

"Ow, my fucking arm!," Blyeven said after the game. "Jesus fucking Christ, does my arm hurt! I mean, I'm glad we won, but, hello, don't we have any other pitchers?"

THE Parish State University (2-1) fell behind early and never looked to be a serious threat. Darryl Strawberry homered and scored four times in the losing effort. Afterwards, he hinted at a growing feud between him and teammate Dale Murphy.

"I don't get him, always praying going to church on Sundays," said Strawberry of Murphy, a devout Mormon. "I mean, maybe if he prays hard enough to whatever those people pray to, maybe his Mormon Jesus will give him the power to start hitting. And what's up with that not drinking soda, anyways? I've got something that's 100 times more powerful than caffeine if he needs it."

I would also like to point out that The South Arkansas Penis had five triples in the game, which I'm sure is a Fantasy RBI League all-time single-game record.

Recap:

The Frank Tanana All-Stars rode the hitting of George Hendrick and the pitching of Bret Saberhagen to an impressive 15-4 victory over the Hip Young Popes on Thursday in a Doverbi Division game called over six innings because of the 10-run mercy rule.

Hendrick went 4-for-4 with a home run, four runs and four RBI to pace the Frank Tanana All-Star's (2-1) attack. Saberhagen went to distance to pick up the victory, working out of many tough jams. The Hip Young Popes (0-3) managed 14 hits but ran themselves out of several potentially big innings and stranded seven runners.

Tony Armas went 3-for-3 with three RBI for the Hip Young Popes in the loss.

Recap:

The OC took advantage of a lackluster Unholy Legion of Doom performance to cruise to a 10-0, three-inning victory on Friday in a Fantasy RBI League interdivision game played Friday at Tengen Field.

Rob Wilfong and Steve Lake each homered and drove in two for The OC (2-1), while Keith Hernandez added a solo shot. Dwight Gooden threw three scoreless innings to pick up the abbreviated win.

Meanwhile, the Unholy Legions of Doom (1-2) couldn't get anything going. Mike Witt has roughed up for 14 hits in two and one-third innings.
