Title: RBI house games 1/2/05 TBT vs Nate Nate Nate
Post by: TbT on 01/02/06, 10:01:17 AM
ok, we aint played em yet, but since im making a post it'll force nate into obligations to play RBI after the Hawkeyes/Gators game today.  It's a sound and sturdy plan with only a few flaws.

that is all.

Iowa can't seem to stop Florida's Pop Warner style offense.  Very serious flaw.

Iowa can't seem to stop getting raped by horrible calls by the refs all fkn mcgame Florida's Pop Warner style offense.  Very serious flaw.

and it all culminated in the reversal of the onside kick recovery by iowa.  im not even an Iu fan (ISU myself) but this was a terrible game.  nate is livid and hes about to get more unhappy by playin me in rbi.

we played arcade RBI so the teams/scores/events are sketchy since we dont really know any of those teams(except the yankees).  I have never played my cart in 2 player before so this was all new to me, and i didnt have the rom ratings handy to see who could do what.

Standard issue stuff, Nate got clobbered in the 1st 2 games.  i believe i 10 runned him both times.  However he hadnt played rbi since probably august and he'd just played our buddy jeff who isnt very good for a couple warm up games.  he gets accustomed to jeff then when he plays me he realizes he cant get away with much BS.

Game 3 was closer and i believe i won 7-4.  He finally beat me in game 4.  I was CHI and he was SF.  I cant remember the pitcher he used(2nd starter) but he's got a nasty curve and Nate rode him for all he was worth.  We played about 3 staright Chi vs SF games, and Nate got back up to speed and started to dominate.  Nate had some great lines tonight as well.  With SF he kept saying late "i need another insurance run" and sure enuf the bastard would hit one out.  This worked like clock work for a bit....fkn bastard.  That became the running joke all night was "need an insurance run".  nate also had me crackin up pitching to jody davis.  he stopped throwing the curve to save pitches and threw a couple right in there "I'm not saving(or was it wasting?) the good stuff for jody davis"  Somewhere in the mix i did get a 3 run homer with davis.

We discovered the greatness of phil niekro of atlanta, and nate went to town with fernando of LA starting games and getting 3 innings at a crack.

I got the Cincinatti 2nd starter (walter i believe) to toss a 3 hit 1 run game for 9 innings.  I aint sure, but if i remember right the lone run came after a couple singles then a bop by the left fielder.  i think all 3 hits came in the 3rd inning and he was blanked the rest of the game.  A personal best for me.  very nice.  that fool ran out of gas/speed but still had a nasty curve way into the 7th inning.  Nate had taken a ton of pitches and worked the count a lot that game, but that fool has a shit ton of curve.

We decided the Cubs staff really sucks.  Seemed like nate could do some very good things with LA and Atlanta's staffs, and was able to do a ton of corner painting.  We also scored a lot of runs.  the defense was up to par, but the pitching placement was nowhere near as good as it needed to be.  lots of 7-5 type games.  next time we'll need the rom ratings to help us out a bit, and keep the scores down by using the better pitchers.

I think we ran thru probably about 9 games and i think i lost 3 or maybe 4 of them.
