Al Pedrique is now managing Magallanes in the Venezuelan League.

Can I borrow the flux capacitor you used to travel into the future?
Alan Ashby, recently fired as the color commentator for Astros radio broadcasts, is a candidate to become the Harris County-Houston Sports Authority (http://www.hchsa.org/)'s next commissioner.
- Houston Chronicle article on possible hiring (http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/metropolitan/3569064.html). Please not that he's up for a city job that pays up to $200,000 a year, despite only having taken "a few" community college courses.
EDIT: Fixed wrong date on subject.
Updated both the WATN and Pedrique's database page (http://dee-nee.com/wiki/index.php/Al_Pedrique)
The Bill Buckner Hitting Camps take place in late Jan. and early Feb. in Boise (http://www.idahostatesman.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20060110/NEWS03/601100375/1037/NEWS03). I guess he won't be conducting any fielding camps...
From the Philadelphia Daily News (http://www.philly.com/mld/philly/sports/baseball/13606464.htm):
"Hall of Fame third baseman Mike Schmidt, who flamed out as the manager of Class A Clearwater in 2004, will return to spring training for his fifth season as a special hitting instructor...
Jack Clark was at John A. Logan College in southern Illinois on Sunday signing autographs with all proceeds going to the baseball program (http://www.thesouthern.com/articles/2006/01/09/local/10003281.txt).
Interestingly enough, he said that the pitcher that he had the hardest time dealing with was Rick Reuschel.
"Whitey always said I could pull a bullet, but Reuschel ¦ man he could mess me up and put me in a slump right away."
Also, the story mentioned that Gary Sheffield flew him up to New York last year to work to receive some personal hitting instruction.
WATN and Schmidt's database page (http://dee-nee.com/wiki/index.php/Mike_Schmidt) have been updated.
Added the quote to Jack Clark's database page (http://dee-nee.com/wiki/index.php/Jack_Clark). If anyone is feeling up to it, that page needs MAJOR editing. It has nothing (not even his rbi stats) but the quote I just added...

Updated.

Nice work, you are on fire today. Slow day at the office?
Small FYI - don't forget to wikilink the first instance of any year, as I have a database page for each of dem. Already took care of it for Clark...

Since Nails has lost over 100K gambling, I'm not going to take his advice on playing the market. Call me crazy...
More updates for the Jack Clark page - added Hall of Shame entries and a short blurb about him at the beginning. We went from an empty page to a full page in minutes, thanks a bunch usc...

Yeah, my bosses are all out of the office today. I have a cold, and was going to leave early but wound up getting stuck doing this.
Plus, today I went ahead and set up Google alerts (http://www.google.com/alerts) for every RBI player, so I have access to RBI News as it becomes available.
I think Nails' actual advice was "car washes, car washes and poker", but they cleaned it up for him.
Is there a way to upload stuff to the wiki? I want to make an edit to the Jack Clark page and have a pic for it.
Nice work with the Google Alerts, that should be a huge help with up-to-the-minute RBI info...

Yes sir, glad to have any help! Once you log in, there is an "Upload file" option on the left-hand side. Once it's uploaded, keep a note of the name and put that in the Jack Clark page. If you edit the page, you can see the syntax for adding a picture. There are two ways to do it, with the thumb (you get a caption, like the first pic) or just the normal pic (like in the Pics section). Give it a whirl and let me know if you have any trouble...
Dale Murphy has a new book out called "The Scouting Report" (http://www.thescoutingreport.net/) which is designed as advice for pro athletes and pro athletes-to-be on choosing an agent, on managing finances, on balancing career and family, on coping with retirement (http://www.timesdispatch.com/servlet/Satellite?pagename=RTD/MGArticle/RTD_BasicArticle&c=MGArticle&cid=1128768923144).
There's a mormon joke in there, but I'll refrain...
Kevin Seitzer is co-owner of the Mac-N-Seitz Baseball Academy (http://www.mac-n-seitz.com/) in Kansas City.
Roger Clemens is opening a new theme restaurant called "Roger Clemens' Rocket Sports Grill (http://washingtontimes.com/upi/20051221-022815-8504r.htm)" in Houston. The restaurant will feature memorbilla such as his Cy Young Awards.
Note: Hasn't just about every athlete-themed restaurant (other than Ditka's) gone out of business within two years? Looks like Roger's been taking financial advice from Lenny Dykstra...
Very nice work on the Seitzer page (http://dee-nee.com/wiki/index.php/Kevin_Seitzer) fighton, I will definitely start including the career stats on all future pages....
PS - For anyone following the DB, clicking on the "Recent Changes'' link is the best way to find out what has been updated in the last few days...

I'm calling Bullshit, is he really out of debt now?
Keith Hernandez was hired yesterday (http://www.newsday.com/sports/baseball/mets/ny-spmtv124584681jan12,0,796914.story?coll=ny-mets-print) as a color analyst for New York Mets games on SportsNet New York. He will be working the booth along with play-by-play man Gary Cohen and former Mets pitcher Ron Darling.
Weird, I had him as an analyst on the WATN already. I wonder if he had another gig doing the same work for a different company or medium...
SportsNet New York is a new cable network, so perhaps he was doing Mets games for whatever station used to have the Mets?
Ron Darling was the Nats color guy last year, and a damn good one, he'll be missed.
MSG and Fox Sports used to have all the contracts for the Mets games. Ralph Kiner worked for Fox Sports along with Tom Seaver.
Is SportsNet New York the Mets new cable station?
Looks like SportsNet New York is partly owned by the Mets and will do 125 games this year:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sportsnet_new_york
So my best guess is that Hernandez simply move stations and kept his old job..
John Franco is the pitching coach for Team Italy (http://www.thedailyjournalonline.com/article.asp?ArticleId=214776&CategoryId=13002) in the World Baseball Classic. The Italian team is led my Mike Piazza, and will be managed by Astros special assistant Matt Galante.
Not to be picky, but has Piazza ever actually lived in Italy?
Of course not. But his parents/grandparents did, and that's good enough.
He did give a hummer to a guy named Rocco in the public restroom at Bryant Square Park - does that count?
piazza: first of all, uh. I'm not a homosexual.
... that should settle it, guys.
I don't think Piazza is gay. I know in HS, he used to bang chicks

sometimes people fart and say that they would have claimed it if it was their fart. saying that you claim your farts as an alibi is the "he who smelt it dealt it" of the new millenium. nothing sounds more guilty than "i claim my farts". that being said, i think piazza is a fudge packer.
So if I say that I'm not gay, it means that I am gay?
i say that if you inquire on the proper way to say that your gay or not gay, then you're definately gay or not gay
So if I say I might or might not be gay, then who is gay?
mike piazza

Denny Walling is the minor league hitting coordinator (http://fredericksburg.com/News/FLS/2006/012006/01152006/159596) for the Baltimore Orioles.
Rafael Santana was just named manager of the Winston-Salem Warthogs (http://www.oursportscentral.com/services/releases/?id=3259455), the Chicago White Sox's affiliate in the Carolina League.
I really wish I still worked at that hotel, as he'd be coming through (where I met Ivan DeJesus and a former Phillies manager as well)
I guarantee that OctoFranco and I will be able to get an RBI cartridge signed by Santana, Walling, and Davy Lopes by the end of the 2006 baseball season.
