In my ever widening quest to better understand the warped psyche of my forum-mates I thought that I'd pose this question. If there are any other roads to RBI glory let me know and we'll add them to the poll.
I use an emulator and a keyboard. I would like a joystick but I haven't picked one up.
I just downloaded a few of the edited RBI roms from this site and I really enjoy them. The all time teams one with Jimmie Foxx, Reggie Jackson, and Jose Canseco on the A's is especially fun.
The all 90's rom is great also and I like the 2003 roster roms aswell.
I voted grey cart, but I have multiple copies of grey/black. I pretty much play whichever cart that will come up. If I'm having trouble with one, then I switch...
Definitely invest in a $15 gravis, makes RBI on the cpu much more enjoyable...

Ganty, you have to get a 72 pin connector for your NES. You can buy them on ebay for under $10...when you install it in the NES, it makes the NES like brand new. You no longer have to blow on games to get them to work and every game works like new--on the first try. I HIGHLY recommend purchasing one of these.
That goes for anybody who still has to blow on games to get them to work. Oh, and there's no longer "snow" on games, once a new connector is installed.
ps...I voted NES back cartridge. Once I got the connector installed, I put in a black cartridge (just happened to pick a black one out ot the 5 that I have) and left it in the NES. That's the official NES for RBI...any other game has to be played on the other NES. :)
I have a gravis at my parents house that I think that I will pick up when I go there over X-mas.
I have had a gravis which kind of sucks a little. A product that I have, but now can't use with my mac is a usb convertor for ps/n64 controllers. freaking great.
Glasshoe, I think we need more explanation on this pin thing. Where do I get one and why don't I already have it?
Bought Lips a NES with the connector for his birthday, but he's moved out and I'm too lazy to upgrade mine. They do work quite well though...

Go here: EBay search for connector (http://search.ebay.com/search/search.dll?cgiurl=http%3A%2F%2Fcgi.ebay.com%2Fws2F&krd=1&from=R8&MfcISAPICommand=GetResult&ht=1&SortProperty=MetaEndSort&query=%2272+pin+connector%22)
I picked up a few of them for $6.99 each. They didn't come with instructions, but it's pretty self explanitory. You have to take your NES apart a little, but just be sure to remember what went where (it's very basic).
If the above link doesn't work, just type in "72 pin connector" in an ebay search.
edit by Gantry to fix up EBay link

Glasshoe
that's funny. fuckin' mclane!
oh, to answer your question, you probably don't have one because you've been looking for highlife on sale for a dollar cheaper than reg price all the time.
I splurged tonight and got a twelver of XX for 10 fiddy.
I'm glad to see that the old unlicensed version is winning out nothing like those black tengen carts. That connector thing is a miracle worker. Do any of youz guyz have a top loading nes... those are awesome. F'er was yor xx green or brown?
Actually, over the past year or so, the most frequent way I've played RBI is via my Dreamcast running NesterDC. Does that fall under the "emulator with joypad" category? :)

Dude, I can't believe I typed "Glasshoe." I didn't even realize after you posted that it was funny. I was wondering why you posted that. Sorry about that. But I can't stop laughing. ;D
I play classic NES on the negro cartridge. Happy Kwanzaa!
GDavis, everyone. Outta leftfield.
He'll be here all week folks.
Be sure to tip your waitress.
