Title: Fantasy RBI All-Star game rosters
Post by: fightonusc on 02/15/06, 04:14:20 PM
I'm done waiting for more people to vote. Phooey on you: you don't get a special edition of Fantasy RBI Baseball Tonight, then...you don't deserve it.

Here are the starting rosters for the Fantasy RBI All-Star game:

Doverbi Division:

INF: Will Clark (The Unholy Legions of Doom)
INF: Mike Schmidt (Fighting Tony Danzas)
INF: George Brett (Frank Tanana All-Stars)
INF: Doug DeCinces (Hip Young Popes)
OF: George Bell (The Poopydicks)
OF: Tony Armas (Hip Young Popes)
OF: Jose Canseco (The Unholy Legions of Doom)
C: Rich Gedman (Frank Tanana All-Stars)

SP: Bret Saberhagen (Frank Tanana All-Stars)

Gantry Division:

INF: Mark McGwire (The Creamy Pirates)
INF: Cal Ripken (The Nimrods)
INF: Darrell Evans (The Nimrods)
INF: Bill Madlock (The Creamy Pirates)
OF: Jeffrey Leonard (The South Arkansas Penis)
OF: Andre Dawson (The OC)
OF: Dale Murphy (THE Parish State University)
C: Mike Heath (The Creamy Pirates)

SP: Mike Scott (THE Parish State University)

As the managers of the previous season's World Series participants, Beefmaster (Doverbi) and Teddyballgame (The OC) are the managers of this year's All-Star game teams. It is your responsibility to set the batting order and select your four bench players, second starting pitcher and two relief pitchers. The stats are on the Web site if you need help.

As soon as I get the final line-ups from the managers, the game will be played.

At some point, the Gantry team should probably play someone at Catcher, preferably Mike Heath.

1B Will Clark
3B Mike Schmidt
RF Jose Canseco
LF George Bell
CF Tony Armas
SS Doug DeCinces
2B George Brett
C Rich Gedman

B Jim Lindeman
B Don Baylor
B Gary Carter
B Reggie Jackson

SP Bret Saberhagen
SP Roger Clemens
RP Scott Garrelts
RP Charlie Kerfeld

I realize it's strategically poor to give Reggie the last bench spot, but his measly 3 HR haven't earned him a higher spot (he makes the team due to his .632 average).  It was a hard choice to even pick him over Chili Davis, and I'm still questioning whether I made the right decision.

For some reason, Nightwulf's RBI Editor isn't letting me download created ROMs. Therefore, I have the AS Game ROM ready to go, but I can't download it. The game will be played as soon as I can get the ROM.

Nightwulf...help!

It worked for me okay - nice thought making the ROM public, so anyone could download it.  I promise, I made no changes.

The game will be played today. In fact, I'm starting up the emulator as we speak...

Attezzabobble has made the Gantry Division a 7:5 favorite.

I have to look at the RBI board more often.  How do I get in on a fantasy RBI team?

Rack:

a) hope that someone drops out next season and you can sign up early or
b) see if we can expand again next season to add new players.

OK, the All-Star Game is complete, and I'll give you a hint that it wasn't a 1-0 game. The game video is attached. Box score and recap will follow.

I think I would be down for the Fantasy league next year as well, provided that I'm in a league where fighton does all the heavy lifting.  Consider me second on the waiting list, after Rack.  Or even better, he and I can be co-owners...

My man love for Gantry will allow me to be co-owners with him.

It was either him or Frank Viola. The had the two best ERAs in the Division, and Scott leads the league in Ks by a wide margin. Also, Viola isn't even the No. 1 starter on his own team.

he is now.

Switch him and Bertus.

This is what I need to turn my shitty season around.

Wow... not only did the game end up with a football score, but it would have been a high-scoring football game.

Mike Schmidt is a crappy fielder.  The game would've been over in the 4th and 5th innings if he doesn't make those errors.

People are too quick to look at stats such as "average" and "home runs" when decide RBI All-Stars, real voters should have been scouring defensive game film.  All-Star voting is a sham!  Hang the commish!

Recap:

George Bell smacked four home runs and drove in nine to win game MVP honors in leading the Doverbi Division to a shocking 21-28 victory over the Gantry Division in the Fantasy RBI Baseball League All-Star Game, played before a sold-out crowd at Tengen Stadium on Friday.

Bell had hits in all seven of his at-bats and also scored six runs. The Doverbi Division team got off to a hot start, scoring 11 runs in the top of the first inning off of losing pitcher Mike Scott. They added another seven runs in the second inning, and appeared to be on their way to a truly amazing offensive night before their bats began to cool off.

The Gantry Division team was able to steadily creep back into the game, closing a 13-run gap down to 24-21 after seven innings. The Doverbi Division eventually responded by scoring seven runs in the eighth inning, but the Doverbi Division team closed the gap back to three in the ninth inning. However, Scott Garrelts was able to come out of the bullpen to retire Cal Ripken to end the game and get the save.

For the Gantry Division, their offensive stars were Darrell Evans and Mark McGwire, who each hit three home runs and combined for 13 RBI.

That was genius move leaving Saberhagen in until he let up 20 runs.

Could Mike Scott's line be the worst in the history of Fantasy RBI?
Title: Re: Fantasy RBI All-Star game rosters

Box score correction: All four of the runs that the Gantry Division scored in the 3rd inning were unearned, as they followed Schmidt dropping a 2-out popup.  Saberhagen "only" gave up 14 earned runs.

My scoring software only counts the unearned run for the run that was put on by the error, not the subsequent runs if there are two outs.

The scorebook stands. Plus, you won, so quit yer bitchin'...

20 ER has to be a fantasy record
Title: Re: Fantasy RBI All-Star game rosters

I remember Bertus having an awful game last season, that might have been like 24 ER, but it was also more than four innings. I'll double check.

EDIT: It was worse than I thought. Bertus gave up 21 ER in 1 2/3 innings of work for The Poopydicks against Beefmaster last season. This was the game where Beefmaster scored 17 runs in one inning (also still a record).
