Title: Arcade teams in ATG style.
Post by: TbT on 03/30/06, 04:57:38 PM
ive havent gotten to play this much against humans.....im lookin at you nate.

im curious as to what everyone thinks the overall rankings are from 1-10.
feel free to drop additional thoughts on best pitching/worst pitching....same with hitting.

i need to redo my arcade stats/attributes so its easier to compare them team by team.

based off a few conclusons, i see ATL/NY being some top teams based off overall power from 1-8.  The pitching is a suspect though.

OAK has a few holes in the batting line-up, but boasts a silly pitching staff.  this could be the deciding factor that possibly gets them over the hump.

CHI is fairly balanced. i can see them hang with anyone.

SF boasts consistent power, but an iffy staff.  good sinkerballs though.

CIN reminds of CHI a little overall as a team, but has too many holes in the line-up.  Ride Walters crazy 56 stamina fools.

LA has poop for power, but has what appears to be some lights out pitching, and a bullpen thats prolly good for 4-5 quality innings if needed.

BOS looks kinda shitty on paper.  not much power, and a staff that doesnt have a lot of stuff.

STL..eh some fast guys to beat out hits.  tons of pitching.  they could be interesting to use despite the lack of power.

HOU...a fairly lights out staff, and a fairly lights never got turned on offense.

Bucky Walters alone make CIN a top tier team IMHO.   A 10/14 curve and 56 stamina is just absurd.  Their lineup is feast or famine though, but Walters can win games by himself....

Great thread folks, thoughts?

great point.  it jogged my memory, but nate used that guy very, very effectively.

he was lights out crazy for 6-7 innings.  and that was with nate taking his time to waste pitches and try to get cheap strike outs.  i knew this so i took a lot of pitches, but it was a waiting game from hell.

the fact that theres only 10 nes carts in existence for this dang game wont help the reply situation.   :(

Yup, you have to wear out Walters to have a chance.  But even then you got Gullet with a nice 22 stamina on the bench, a respectable 7/4 curve and a lights-out 14 sinker...

1SP gives Cincy a huge edge, but with 2SPs they lose a small amount of luster.  Mario Soto is completely terrible, thus making them shitty in a "no reset" type series as well...

Nah, I have the #'s right in front of me or else I would have been lost.  Before this thread I wouldn't have know if Gullet or Borbon was better.  You gotta know your pitcher stats if you want to succeed in ATG...

LA sucks, the Cubs and Yankees have no pitching

SF, Atl, Cin, Oak, NY, Chi, Bos, Stl, LA, Hou

My approx ranks, I've played about 8 total 2 player games on the arcade machine, so this is mostly my assumptions based CPU play and ratings

I have played my cart a lot (would should have a arcade cart tourny at some future time) but I only use the A's.  I know the yankees have so much power that it is hard to pitch to them but if you take a strike the first two times through your lineup while hitting against them it does not matter.
