Title: automatic base cover
Post by: broiler on 05/24/06, 05:13:42 PM
there are very few things worse than when the computer chooses the wrong player to field a grounder.  a friend of mine claims that one time a grounder was hit at his fielder that went for the automatic base cover, a player he had no control over, and the ball BOPped.  i have never seen this happen.  has anyone seen this happen?

I'm not positive, but I think I may have once seen the fielder who auto-ran to cover second on a pop up have a bop when the ball came down right on his head.  Normally I love that play though.

What I find most frustrating is the computer-assisted putout.  You feel so gypped hitting into that shit...

Octo and Big Hath don't seem sure about it, and BDawk is a liar.

I'm sure its happened plenty before....its just that I never take the time to mark something like that....never made a mental note about it...didnt seem important.

are you kidding?  it is always mental note worthy when the autocover guy makes a lucky play, and i think it would be even more so if he happened to make a BOP.  Lots of OOOOHS and AAAAAAHs from the peanut gallery

What is this?

What I hate is when the computer makes the catcher cover the plate on a low foul pop up that the catcher could otherwise catch.

I'll start watching for it in the watch games, but I think I've seen it happen.  I record every game so I'll have video if I see if happen

do you think this helps your quick throw theory?  when is that due, by the way?

i keep running into new findings that keep me from finishing.  and when a door of possibility opens, i dont want to shut it.  the truth will be revealed when it is meant to be.  no sooner, no later
