If not, I can probably try my hand at it. I guess it would be best to wait a bit though, until the rosters are set.
I'm sure someone will; probably a bunch of people. Not me though. I'm more the "tech guy" than the "stats guy."
Nightwulf
Maybe this weekend. I thought someone had made an end of the year '03 version. Can anyone verify this?
Mike
Actually if you want to put our heads together & try to make one it could make things easier.
Mike
Actually I can do the hitters very quickly. BA, slg/HR,SB/3B make it easy to do power/speed/contact. While I'm thinking out loud, which teams to use?
Playoff teams:
Florida (good)
Atlanta (awesome)
Cubs (good - which pitchers do I use? 3 starters?)
San Fran (good)
Boston (great)
NYY (awesome)
Oakland (good)
Minnesota (ugh)
Possible teams:
Seattle 93 wins (decent/good power)
CWS 86 (great power + Loiaza & Colon)
Toronto 86 (good power + Halladay)
Houston 87 (great power 6 double digits, good pitching)
Philly 86 (Thome, Abreu, Burrell)
LA 85 (poor power)
STL 85 (good power)
I'm actually leaning towards the WhiteSox & Astros. Tough to leave out Seattle though.
Mike
I'm about 75% done with the hitters.
Mike
QuoteCubs (good - which pitchers do I use? 3 starters?)
I'd say you keep it in line with the regular version, therefore two starters. Prior, Wood, Farnsworth (he'd be simliar to Senor Smoke) and Barowski...
* Hitters done, at least a beta version is.
* Started to put pitcher stats into excel sheet.
* Used Nightwulf's editor to make the teams & colors for the rom.
Gantry, I think I'm going with Remlinger over Farnsworth. They have similar stats & he's a lefty.
Mike
Upon further review, I'm going with Farnsworth.

which Red Sox pitchers will you use?
Pedro, Lowe, Kim and Williamson (or replace him with Embree for a lefty)
I might throw my hat into the bag this year. And I'll try to keep it within "original scales". Mind you when I made rbi2k3, there was only the original rom editor, so i had slide scales, and used a tile editor for the team abbreviations. But enough crying about that. It probably wont be out until the season starts, as I want as many transactions and final roster adjustments to be made as possible. Thanks to nightwulf again for his great editor. RBI2k4 should be a much better experience overall.
I was wondering if you guys think I should throw teams together by divisions, or by overall rank like last year?
Thanks

The hitters are just about done. I'm half way done with the pitchers. I don't remember which SOX pitcher's I've used. I'll try to post this when I get home, since I don't have the XL sheet at work.

By rank is best, made the teams much more equal all around...
The only concearn is, a lot of people complained about too much hitting on the first rom, and nothing on the third. I also thought it would be cool to keep teams in their RL divisions, include the same div from the other league, and that way, it would be balanced with good teams, and bad, and also add the fun of rivalries. But because the leagues are not balanced, I moved Montreal to Portland, and to the AL West, and Pittsburgh from the NL Central to the NL East. So the roms will look like this...
East
New York Yankees
Boston Red Sox
Toronto Blue Jays
Baltimore Orioles
Tampa Bay Devil Rays
Atlanta Braves
Florida Marlins
Philadelphia Phillies
Pittsburgh Pirates
New York Mets
Central
Minnesota Twins
Chicago White Sox
Kansas City Royals
Cleveland Indians
Detroit Tigers
Chicago Cubs
Houston Astros
St. Louis Cardinals
Cincinnati Reds
Milwaukee Brewers
WEST
Oakland A's
Seattle Mariners
Portland Expos
Anaheim Angels
Texas Rangers
San Francisco Giants
Los Angeles Dodgers
Arizona Diamondbacks
Colorado Rockies
San Diego Padres
I guess I could do it both ways as well. I just though for a baseball fan, this would have more appeal, and would also add numerous rivalries. Pittsburgh is an instant rival with Philly, and Portland is Montreal, but somebody had to move, and since they probably will anyway (where is another matter) this just made it easy for me.
I couldnt find a list of high and low ratings for all the attributes, so I went through and found them myself. Here is what I got, let me know if these are incorrect, because Im using them as the scale to stay within when I do my ratings.
Hitting:
Contact 38-4 (4 being best)
Power 717-954
Speed 118-148
Pitching:
Sinker Ability 2-14
Curve Ability 2-12
Staminma 12-54
Speed-Sinker 133-176
Speed Curve 137-186
Speed Fast 173-216
Unknown #1 117
Unknown #2 140
For the Unknowns, I just averaged each one out, and they came to this. Assuming nobody figured out for sure what they are, I though it would be best to use the averages for each one, so there was no hidden advantage.
I'm using Pedro, Lowe, Timlin & Kim.
Mike
Timlin??! That guy's an F-ing cheater (post season sour grapes--even though the Yanks beat the Red Sux).
I bet whoever will make the 04 ROM is waiting on officially where the final Three big Free Agents land:
1. Pudge Rodriguez (pretty darn close to being a Tiger)
2. Greg Maddux (a Cub? if so the rbi version should only have one reliever!)
3. Rickey Henderson (who knows!?)
They mean an 04 version of the 03 season if I'm not mistaken.
My 2k4 is planned for the upcoming season...I think marquis is currently working on the end of the 2003 season, to have a polished 2003 rom.
I already put out a beta version of my end of year 2003 rom. (http://forums.dee-nee.com/index.php?board=3;action=display;threadid=1475)
So it doesnt matter where anyone signs. Although there is a dispute which two starters should be on the Astros.
Mike
Nice, didn't know I started a dsipute ;D
