Lets see who thinks who is the favorite.
Until Riley is defeated, I'm going with him...

Yeah, I can't go against him, but still think there is only about a 30% chance that he wins it.
I'm going with Bandur, but mainly so I can feel better about myself since he knocked me out in C-Bus.
i voted for dirt. he has to have the dee-nee support behind him. oh and tbt too, yeah tbt!
i voted for joseph dirtbag, just cause he's a cheater.
of all the crap he's taught me, cheating is not included. :(

I was thinking more like 31.5%
What does dirt do that is cheating?
Spits at the other player when they are about to swing

One word: Shocker
TBT is my sleeper pick of the COTUT.
TBT wins it all
TBT is my sleeper pick, too. You don't get many who are as intense with the study of the game. I'm tellin' ya, the kid is going to make me proud.
Really, in all honesty, in my opinion, it all comes down to streaks when you're talking about the top talent. I really think any of those guys could beat me at any given time, and vice versa (that's Latin). It comes down to who's hot and when. Not so much in a sexy hot sorta way, but in an RBI hot way.

Exactly my thoughts as well, Joe. TBT has dove headfirst into knowing every damn detail of the game, right down to certain matchups and numbers of each player. It's insane.
He's also been good enough to ask me for advice on a few things here and there and keep me updated on his preparation.
TBT is going all the way. You heard it here first!

but rbi is sexy. if it wasn't there would never have been such a desire to receive the rbi blowjob
I think he's studied up, and will be at the top of his game. And I expect full reports for every dee nee'er by phone...that means you BRAD! I believe we discussed this last weekend when I was drunk and likely tripping trying to find a campsite.
It's really to the point now, that I MUST play against the top notch competition, because I cant imagine anyone being THAT much better than me considering the hours upon hours that I've played.

thanks for the vote of confidence guys.
if i succeed and manage to place, then give nate a round of applause for playing me a TON the last 2 weeks. that dude is the greatest friend ever...fkn EVER!
i want phone calls, TBT.
I promise to answer the phone as long as it isn't saturday afternoon (Ryne's birthday party)
i'll be using a phone card from the hotel, so it'll be a 1-800 number i suppose on caller ID.
that is all.
TBT, what is your name on the brackets? who are you playing first round??
does anyone know who tbt really is? like real name?

Follow the clues, my friend.
He'll be the one concealing the notebook in his shirt sleeve.
Joe keeps coming close and this is his time... plus hes a nice guy, and nice guys gotta win sometimes.... its scripted!
I am going to disagree with Mclanes pick of TBT.
yeah, he jinxed it.
im not even gonna tell him or goreds about any more tourneys im in.
Colin Foster = Out
TBT's replacement appears pretty good.
Where the fuck is JoeDirt?
Who are you getting info from?
I just checked the brackets.
Foster lost to Brannon, then in the consolation bracket lost to Masterson (the kid that started this thread, right?)
Taft beat Masterson then took out TBT's replacement.
TBT's replacement plays Masterson next.
I'm wondering if JoeDirt is playing right now.
i believe dirt was noon and 1 pm.
beales had beaten foster in some practice series 3-1 and 3-0 in the last week.
i had wondered if foster was very rusty, cause from what i knew beales hadnt really played much either in the last 6 months.

Oh i know him. ^-^
Dirt's through.
Trevor Martin's out.
Dirt here...some serious competition in this tourney so far. Silverblatt was a very solid player...as was Fred.
Next match for me 3:00 vs. Carl Taft. I didn't get to scout him at all because I was mistakenly scouting Foster...I cannot believe Foster is out. Great RBI player just didn't have it today, I guess.
Lotta shit talkers here! You know I roll Barry Sanders style...
Any chance of side games tonight or is everyone gonna be all-RBIed out
I'm sure there's a great chance, ult...can you make it out?
Also, I meant to ask bigbopper before he left if he still hates the "take take take" theory...just wondering if after one tourney under your belt, you have?
I'm done for the day...went 6-1. Lost with Mn to Ny 3-1...my opponent (Carl Taft) played a great game after being 1 hit and 2 hit in games 1 and 2. I think that I let my guard down and it cost me an undefeated day. :( I did come back in game 4 and gave up but 2 hits...
Tourney is intense this year...and a blast. I recommend it to all (even you, moses--once you beat the computer).

Riley = Out.
fkn A. its insanity at the cotut this year. dirt and beales have to be loving this.
however sounds like the unknowns are bringing it.
this is gonna forever change how the big dogs are perceived
hold on attezz, i only see riley dropping to the loser bracket so far. did someone call yah?

No, I'm pretty sure Attez is just jumping the gun, he's just in the loser's bracket
The bracket is so confusing.
Is this double elim like the Ohio tourney?
same as ohio. yep. loser bracket can still produce the over all winner.
That explains it.
Wasn't one of the McCormick brothers just talking shit week or so back?
dont recall. someone was saying they were good. the overall records for each cotut dont indicate that they've ever sniffed money.
This is their first COTUT.
i saw your bumpst. thanks.
bandur beats beales. holy crap. this thing whole tourney has been tossed on its ear.
And now Riley's got a rematch with the same McCormick brother.

I hate that format
riley might be liking it. bracketmaker.com(?) has these but they have it so you can mix it up so that in most cases you dont face a guy twice unless its very late in tourney.
Come on out, then, ult. Do you still have my cell phone?
Also, Riley is far from out...never to be counted out until it's official and maybe not even then...
Right, remember that the loser's bracket winner can still take the whole enchilada. CRAZY year, the talent is infinitely better than the first tourney I attended...
Gdavis stormed all the way thru the conso bracket and got the money for 4th last year.
id say beales or riley are very capable of it. But in the meantime, c'mon joe dirt. its your year holmes......time to take it.
Beales is out, Riley and Bandur came through the loser's bracket and will meet tomorrow, Riley as the heavy favorite as Bandur was drinking and has to pick up his parent at the aiport at 5:30 and isn't planning to sleep.
Saw a perfect game yesterday R. McCormick over Bandur, Nolan Ryan pitched all 9 innings and threw a 101 Mph fastbal in the 9th inning, as McCormick took the deciding game 1-0 winning the series 3-1.
Dirt vs. R. McCormick in the front door final winning is guanteed top 2, loser is guanteed top 4.
Got to play 2 games against Dirt, first time I've played in 18 months, lost 3-0 I had SF vs. SL, and lost 6-3 I had Ca vs NY

Wow.
I assume Bandur was St. Louis, but this is still awfully impressive.
Although, when Bandur and I hooked up with St. Louis/Houston, he threw 9 shutout with Nolan and I threw 6+ shutout with Dayley.
Yes Bandur was STL

Wow is right. That'sf ucking insane.
I cant doubt a 9 inning afair with ryan, but how is this possible? did bandur see on average less than 2 pitches from ryan per batter? ultimate, did you see the whole game, or did you miss the early innings?
Ryans stamina is 50, but bandur woulda had to been hitting almost everything on the 1st or 2nd pitch he saw with every batter for this to be possible to still see heat like that in the 9th.
if it is, then that dude was really going after the batters all game long.
Bandur and Silverblatt are in the 4th place round. Dirt is probably playing mccormick right now.
Riley is done. The household names are dropping like flies.

Bandur was St. Louis, no reason to pitch around St. Louis.
In Bandur's defense, I'd rather face Ryan than Scott, and if you wear out Ryan you have to then face Scott for the rest of the game.
that is a good point about scott. i guess bandur was up ther hacking away then. pretty ballsy though cause he woulda had to go right after clark and lindeman obviously 3 time thru.
in that situation i'll usually go after Lindeman, but leave clark along and walk him each time.

I came in the 5th or 6th, Bandur was swinging at a lot of pitches, I think I saw a couple 5 pitch innings
well, that'll do it. multiple 5 pitch innings will kill you. One thing about Hou is that you really gotta be taking some against em.
I can't believe Bandur beat Riley
Are there any games left? Just got up and am ready to head on over, what time are the finals?
Looks like Silverblatt beat Dirt in the championship round. Dirt is still alive cause its double elimination all the way thru.
Best of 7 is what they are playing now.
Wow.
This is going to be the third series against those two, isn't it?
yes. dirt had nothing but good things to say after the 1st series.
would be quite an accomplishment for him to win a cotut in his 1st try (i believe)
Did anyone end up coming to do a documentary?
I just got back from the hotel. Dirt was down 3-0 in the second series. Since JoeD has lost every time I watched him, I left to hopefully give him a boost...
Crap. Man i'll feel real shitty for Dirt if he finishes 2nd again. One thing about Dirt though, He's placed every year hes been in a tourney which is remarkable . i believe this is his 3rd time. 2 cotuts and the ohio.
gantry, so dirt got swept in the 1st championship series 4-0?
Nope, it went the full seven games with at least 3 extra innings games. Last game went 13 innings IIRC, easily the best RBI series I ever watched...
talked to mr dirt. he was down about losing. he said he got screwed on a few games where bops were the deciding factor. it got in his head, and that was that.
this year has been great for the tourney though. beales, foster, and riley are all bumped early(before the money at least). its no longer about the big 4. this proved anyone is capable of making noise. long live the underdogs!
Damnit, that sucks. Joe is a super good guy and a stellar RBI player.
Joe places every year at these things. none else can say they have accomplished that.
im sorry to see a championship eluded him once again, but hes as consistent as they come.
and with that said i dedicate these strapping young lad lyrics to joe dirt aka my hero

And All You Are Is All You Are...
I'm So Sorry (For You) I'm Sorry...
So All Hail The New Flesh,
Because It Suits Me Fine...
Just Get Away, You Motherfuck
And We'll Be Back If You Come
For What This Means To Me, You Piece Of Shit...
I'll See You Pigs In Hell
I Just Know Everything's Going To Be O.K.
I'll tell you what, guys, I am fkn beat. As in ass tired. Just got in. I'll talk about the tourney more tomorrow, but lemme just say a few things:
* Gantry is fkn bad luck. I was down 3-0 in the second series; Gantry leaves. I immediately win the next two games.
* I was surprised at the team selections as a whole. It seemed to me that people very often chose Ca or Sf as their 1st/2nd picks. Unreal. I even saw a few Mn's and Ny's mixed in there.
* The elite group expanded. I really think that it comes down to who's hot when with me, Riley, Foster, Beales, Silverblatt, Rory McCormick, and maybe even brother Greg McCormick.
* Gantry's mohawk looked awesome.
* In true Dirt fashion, I was called a cheater for doubling somebody up on an infield fly rule and for fouling off about 15 pitches with my pitcher. But, in my defense, I told Rory if my P is his Ps last batter, then I'd stop...but he didn't answer, so I didn't stop. Ultimately, Gooden (his P) tired out and was removed after my P's ab. That game went into extra innings, so I feel the move was legit.
Too tired to go into much more...Bandur played very well considering his past performances and the fact that he was no hit AND the receptient of said perfect game over the weekend...
i missed a ton this week.
How did Bandur beat Riley?
I think it was a combination of things:
1) Riley told me that he only played 8 games of RBI since the last tourney. But he wasn't using it as an excuse, I still think it might have played a factor in his performance. Though I think JoeD played the same amount and he tore it up...
2) Bandur is a quality player who hasn't put it all together yet at the COTUTs. Beales has been saying for years how Bandur is due to pull off some big games at the tourneys.
SETH SILVERBLATT - ATX CHAMPION OF THE UNIVERSE. COME TO TEJAS AND GET A TASTE, HOOKERZ.
whatever, russ. whatever.
The COTUT was a ton of fun. I wasn't there mentally the second day though. I completely relaxed and it showed. Plus, I was throwing way too many strikes. Although it paid off with Nolan's prefecto, which is epic. Cordiano was tough. He was carving me up pretty good. I made some bad errors that hurt me and in RBI, that is all it takes. Great tourney though. Met a lot of cool dudes as well. Hopefully I can make it to another tourney. I suppose I better get a Nintendo or something first....
Get ready for the Ohio Invitational, Rory! June 2007 is almost here...

The older and tortured for losing to the younger of the Brothers McCormick here. If you watched any of our games you'll know what my username is referring to - and nothing quite like Rory doing the 6-4-3 with no one on in the 1st inning of his 1st game and the ball getting stuck in the 2nd baseman's glove.
I'll check the camera and see how many K's Nolan had in helping to figure out how he was still going Verlander in the 9th against Jeff.
It's awesome to be mentioned in the same breath as you legends, by the way, even as a mostly unproven fringe elite.
I'm just disappointed we headed back downtown right before Gantry got there - I was really hoping to meet 1 of the 4 from his site.
Are you the North Dakota brother?
If you are, I like you more.
Some pics of the box scores would also be the tits.
Where at in North Dakota are you from (ND McCormick Brother, not Attezz)?
ND McCormick Brother--can you post all of the pics you snapped at the tourney? I know I got more than one blind spot from a flash bulb while playing...
Fargo bro - home of the Bison/Roger Maris/Rick Helling/cold/wind/pretty decent chicks actually/movies that make fun of us. Yes, pics can be attached later this afternoon.
I would like to announce that letsTURNtwo is my new favorite forum member.
West Fargo (Horace) WHAT!!
I was in a wedding in West Fargo a couple years ago. Fargo is a pretty nice city.
I was kinda hoping you'd be from, say, Hettinger, because I'm going to be out in that neck of the woods next week.
