Title: The Forrest Gump?
Post by: GPines on 05/01/02, 02:10:53 PM
I dont know if this play is in the glossary or not, but it doesnt happen to often, but it is pretty funny when it does.

When you're on defense and you run to a base with your fielder(usually it's on accident) and after they reach the base they keep on running into the outfield. It happened to us twice recently, once the 1st baseman rain into left field, and the other time the catcher ran into center field.

It reminded me of Forrest Gump when he kept running after he scored the touchdown, "I just felt like running". So I'm suggesting maybe that should be called the Forrest Gump.

I like it!  The running version of the glitch where you miss the throw to the base.  I'll add it to the glossary...

I have seen this many times.  It always happens when I catch the ball with the 2nd baseman and run the ball to first just to piss off Stuart, and it appears as if my fielder forgets how many outs there are, and he just keeps running toward the dugout.

Awesome!!!! we never had a name for that, we used to refer to both overthrows and overruns as "by 'ems"
