Title: New Glitch?
Post by: ericdavisfan on 08/01/06, 08:30:27 AM
My son and I were playing RBI last night.  He was using Am and I was Ho.  I was trying to let him learn how to field the ball properly, so I would hit and just let him go get the ball, but wouldn't advance runners.  4th batter of the game and Glenn Davis comes up with the bases loaded.  He hits one pretty well...just left of center field.  The ball looked like it would either hit the top of the wall, or just clear for a grand slam.  However, what happened was something that I've never seen before.  As the ball reached the fence, the game recorded out, the ball was with the center fielder, and all the players were back at their original bases.  Given that the out was recorded, it probably should have gone as a triple play, because I didn't send the runners back, but they just magically appreared back on their bases

Anyone else know of this glitch?

EDF, how old is your boy?

Ryne and I have been practicing RBI as well.  I'll set up a watch game, particularly because he's not capable of controllin fielders, etc.   What he can do is hit the A button when I tell him to. . . . so we work on his hitting for now.

He had the Angels yesterday and smashed a homer with Joyner and Downing.

I was most impressed.

So Ryne could beat Moses?

Moses would probably win, but it wouldn't be easy.

She'd probably win by forfeit since Ryne typically gets bored after 3 innings or so.

However, as long as bombs are being hit, he's excited. . . . . he likes the fireworks.

From the Glossary (http://dee-nee.com/rbi/glossary.shtml):

QuoteHitting a grand slam that is called out - This has happened twice, both times to Lipitz. I only saw one, where he hit a granny to left that stayed in the stadium and was called out as soon as it hit the ground. This has to be the worst glitch out there.

The first time I read that, I couldn't believe something so horrible could exist in the game.  Nice to have another confirmation of this EDF, even if it cost you dearly...  Although I suppose better when teaching your son how to field than in a more competetive/tournament situation.  Also interesting to know the effects it has on the baserunners.

This is one of the only two glitches among the ones listed in the glossary that I have never personally witnessed, the other being an inning ending after only two outs.  Although I'm not sure what a "screen changing" deep home run to center is either.  Rare indeed...

I'm sure that no runs scored on this one because it was the 1st inning.  The bases were still loaded and the score was still 0 - 0.  My son is 6 and loves video games.  He doesn't understand fielding very well yet, but he can hit.  I played 2 games with him.  The first, I won in a one inning slaughter, because he couldn't get any outs.  The 2nd game, he was able to record a couple of outs, and I "helped" him a little by striking out or popping a bunt to the catcher.  I played straight pitch to him, so he could practice hitting, and he could pitch anything goes to me.  He slaughtered me 23 - 12 in the second game.  I think that Canseco hit 4 home runs off of me in 2 innings.  Apparently my son hits, and fields, like David Ortiz.
