One game, or a series?  Minnesota, for example, is much better in the former scenario than the latter.

you guys are a bunch of dirty fkn rat bastards!

we might be starting up a rbi league between 3 or 4 guys so that was the motivation behind the puhls.   im highly in favor of a 1SP league.  proly just have 2 game sets vs all the oponents during the regular season.

Boston.  Dominating SP. Deep bench. Better uniform than Cali.

Minn as good as AL All Stars?  Oh boy.

Skewed results here because many including myself don't play with All Stars often (although I did put them 1,2 here I bet some people who don't play with all stars will not vote for them)

i think the AL should get a few more votes by now, mainly due to the 3 mashers they do have in the line-up.

ive reviewed the AL to a great extent tonight, and ive gotta say they have some tools in place, but are not quite a complete team compared to Bos, Det, NL in terms of hitting.

They do have probably the most ridiculous set of 4 batters.  mcgwire, mattingly, bell, canseco.  seriously 3 of 4 dudes with over 935 power and donny baseball clocks in at 855.   If you subbed right the NL all stars could have Murphy 909, Dawson 954, and Davis 900 all in a row, but i dont think that rivals the AL wrecking ball for a small section of the line-up.

They do have a horrible bottom 4, and if u dont respect ripken, you could really challenge the bottom 5 every game.  thats a huge flaw for the AL though.  That probably breaks the team from the class of the elite.  if they just had maybe 1 elite bomber in there somewhere after ripken they would be potent.

One teling tale about the AL is thier righty/lefty staff.  Key and Saberhagen have above average stuff, with damn good drop balls.  Righetti and henke both have some half ass decent curve, and both have decent drop balls.  henke does have an explosive fast ball.  that'll blow right by some guys not expecting it.  I think the righty/lefty combo's could be just enuf to keep these guys almost on pace with the big boys.    they could have been ebtter though i believe if they could have a dominate reliever in place of a good 2nd starter.  that would make them a beast in a best of 3 series w/ 1 SP.   overall they aint bad.

7 2/3 no-hit innings(2BB) with Ryan tonight against an OK opponent, only to have it fucked up by Kerfuck's 1st pitch in relief.  I hadn't used HOU in a while, and was surprised by a monster Lopes HR, and Nolan's stamina considering the amount of fastballs I threw.

ok. i just emailed him, but when he reply's i'll request a 2nd.

i completely spaced off getting this version for a long time.

BTW dirt, you know how to make roms right?  ive always wanted to start mixing and matching the arcade teams vs the nes teams.  would take 4 carts total to prsent all the match-ups but might be cool to have.

Bos or Det slugging it put with ATL and NY would be a good time.

is that for making current roms like an 06 er a best of the 60's or something?  im talking about using the ratings from the arcade and nes and putting 5 arcade and 5 nes teams on then same cart.

I get what you're saying, but 35 HR in regular RBI, and 35 in Arcade don't translate into the same numbers.  The only way you could do it is base both off of a common rating scale(or one off of the other).  If you want, I'll try to translate an Arcade scale for regular RBI(vise versa).  I'll see what I can come up with.  The table I posted is pretty accurate with regular RBI ratings though. Included is both the NES and Arcade sheets so you can see what I mean.

as per our PM....a team like NY Yanks(aracade) has a lot of power, but really isnt in a different league than Bos/Det.  They happen to have one extra bomber that those high end nes teams dont have.  NY has 1 stellar pitcher, and 3 also rans.Ford has good stuff, and a good drop ball.  the rest of the staff isnt special.  also NY has probably the worst stamina on the game.  2 starters with 36 each, and the bullpen combines for 30.

now atlanta on the other hand.  they probably have too much power for the nes teams to deal with.  7 guys with 900 or better.  Niekro has lights out stuff but he's not a fast pitcher.  i havent played that game in a while, but i bet his fastball tops out at the low 90's if that.  The rest of Atlantas staff is so-so.  Overall id say Atlanta vs the NL all stars would make for a good game.

The bottom half of arcade teams are pretty much as good as Cal/SF batting wise.  teams like STL, Brookly, Bos are not heavy hitting teams.

i may have commented on this before, but subbing mcgwire after ripken does give them a completely different look than him batting lead off.  it spreads out the firepower nicely.  still not sure id switch up to this just yet, but i'll consider it.

since i got my feet more than wet recently again w/ MIN i will say thet are not a bad 1 SP team.  I wouldnt put them in the top 4 by any mean.  Mecha-Blyleven does put it all out there in game 1 for yah.  and they do have 4 guys hanging around 880+ power which isnt a bad thing.
