Title: RBI 3 - 2006 Edition ROM [beta]
Post by: pmeth on 10/10/06, 09:54:06 PM
Hi All,

I've been working on the 2006 edition of Rbi3.  It's not quite finished, but all the players are in there, so you can at least simulate the playoffs before they're over in real life.

Let me know what you think...

Maybe a little too much power(I scored 11 runs in the 1st inning with NYM), but nicely done other than that.  I've never done anything with RBI 3,but if I could change the color of the field; it would be much better.  I'll have to play the finished product to come to a verdict.

Also, what are you using to edit this?  I want to play too.

Really?  Too much power.  I was thinking it might not be enough power.  I had a hard time getting the ball out of the infield with the Tigers, but then again I was playing 2 player against my buddy who is a pretty good pitcher.

After I finished the power numbers I checked the average power from mine versus the average power from the original RBI 3 and they are virtually the same.

Also, I can't take credit for the majority of the modifications.  I was working with a ROM from greatfun0 that he made with 2005 stats.  You can find it at http://andy_greatfun.tripod.com/rbi/.  He's done the color changes, and the team selection screen, and lots of other changes that I haven't figured out how to do yet.

As for editing, I am also making an online editor using PHP & MySQL, and I'll work on releasing that once I finalize the 2006 ROM.

Other than that, I am using Hexspertise to view/edit the Hex.  This is my first ROM hacking attempt, so I'm learning as I go.

Yeah, 1st pitch, Reyes yard.  LaDuca single, Beltran yard, Degado yard ect.  The computer seemed to be throwing BP.  Wang from NYY was pitching, and nothing seemed to curve.  I never even pitched though, so I don't know if the computer just throws down the middle a lot or what(I've not played RBI 3 much).  I don't think I even took any pitches.  Looks promising though, keep it up.

Could you post the player rosters and stats as a text file of some sort?

I looked at the ratings, and they looked normal to me so I played anpther game with the same two teams.  Much differant results.  played 5 innings this time and only scored 4 runs(1 HR with Wright).  Maybe I was just "on" yesterday, I don't know.  Ratings seem about right to me though if they translate to regular RBI.  Good Job.

Thanks.  As far as I know, the original RBI uses the same stats as RBI 3, so if you wanted to make an RBI ROM, you could probably use my numbers without any adjustment.  Of course, I could be wrong and you may end up with a league of supermen, or a league of weaklings.
