Raines, Coleman, McGee and Lopes are capable of this. If your opponent is dumb enough to start  the catcher running towards the basestealer up the third baseline, the catcher will simply run by the baserunner without a tag.

Not always, this isnt strategy i would use against anyone who has ever actually played RBI.

It has worked on a few occasions for me. If I don't see the catcher break towards me, I head back. If my opponent tries the backdoor throw, I just keep heading home and I am always safe with said speed demons in my previous post. It is always good to check em, just in case.

I have stolen home even against decent opponents, and I have had home stolen on me.  It is very hard to compute in your mind that to run to home plate, you have to push down and b because you are actually running up the screen you might press up and b and as a result vacate the position.

I can see Joe Dirt taking notes on how to beat me...

Matter of fact, stealing second is not even fifty fifty with the quickest runners, because it isnt that hard to make the quick reaction, and as long as you dont let the ball get stuck in the glove, the runner wont slide, and its an out I would say 90% of the time even against Coleman.

i think it would be interesting for maybe someone like nightwulf to figger out at what pitching speed coleman/ranies/lopes can steal bases frequently. 

you gotta figger that when a guy pitching speed drops down into the lower 80's that the runner should have a better chance at swiping 2nd base.

It's just a mental block that I have a hard time overcoming because I go to run home, which is up so I press up and b.  As a result, now I run to third, but that can be dangerous too.

The problem for my opponent is that he never gets a runner to third on me so this is moot.

The steal home is rare enough that I agree with Big Apple - it's easy enough to forget if someone hasn't tried to steal home on you in a year.  Dark Side's run to 3rd is interesting, what I see more often is the run to second...

It's very hard for it to happen, especially if you play with the sound on, you are risking an out in simply hoping that your opponent makes a major brain fart.  There are situations were I might try it against a strong opponent, like if I had a huge lead, or if there were 2 outs and the pitcher was up, but it would have to be a very rare situation.

I don't think it's that much of a risk.  You can start coming home long enough to see if the catcher starts running toward second base.  If he does you keep coming, if he doesn't then you scurry back to the bag.

If you go you are out over 90% of the time, if your opponent is decent

If someone is trying to steal home just sit on the ball at home.  Don't try and run.

You have to run to the plate first - I had a friend in elementary school that didn't realize this until I stole home on him a couple times.

Mclane's point is that you can run to the plate at the last second if you want, just wait and make the runner commit to what he's gonna do.

not a bad idea.  that way if you brain cramp and run to second base, you'll still tag the runner.
