Title: dee-nee.com house games for 3/27
Post by: Gantry on 03/27/02, 05:21:37 PM
Game one was Potsie (Det) versus myself (Ca).  Potsie had the stroke early, jumping out to a quick lead.  I came back and took the lead after 4.  In the bottom of the 6th, I was down 17-15 and Cael was on FoxSports.  So I went upstairs to watch him and when I came back I stepped a little too hard near the NES and the game reset.  By the reset rule (which I ironically put in the FAQ today) the game was official 17-15 potsie, though I didn't get my ABs in the bottom of the 6th.   Lips (Bos) and Pots (Det) are up now...

Game two was a quick Potsie (Det) slaughter over Lipitz (Bos), 14-4...

In game three, Potsie (guess who?) takes down Gantry (Ca) 18-12.  I was completely off my game tonight and Darrell Evans has an 80% homer ratio tonight.  Wally Joyner mustered up a pathetic 2 dingers in two games.  Reggie did his job, but everyone else was off their game.  Had bases loaded in the bottom of the 9th and the X-Factor grounded out...

gotta stay away from the nes... you know how touchy it is...

what would happen if two people wanted the same team... thats where the die would come in.

Winner of previous game gets team/controller/chair.  First game of the night, if both teams wanted Detroit, would go to rock-paper-scissors....

In the other games of the night, Lips (Bos) finally kicks Potsie & Detroit off the winner stand, winning by slaughter in the 8th.

In the final game of the night, Gantry (Ca) puts up 11 runs in the first inning off of Lips (Det) only to see himself down after three innings.  A couple big rallies in the 8th and 9th give me the victory, around 23-18.   Reggie Jackson was huge and Wally Joyner came to play.  George Hendrick is starting to seal the #8 spot in the lineup, Burleson just doesn't have the same pop for me...

No, all of our games with the good teams are typically death.  We've gotten used to it and the as long as somebody doesn't win all night, nobody gets hurt...

Wednesday night was just a warm-up.  First few games back after a couple weeks off; some fine-tuning had to take place.  But tonight, my A-game will return, and to all that oppose me...

PERISH!!

do you guys ever do a battle or futility for fun??...it probably wont get you as drunk without all the homers, but using the stros and cardinals for a series always is good for a giggle....

death where dee-nee house is concerned is different cause you have 3-5 players going at it where as most of us dont have a group like that to share in the mass consumption(conehead style).

We do dip into the non-death Houston/StLouis style sometimes during the weekend, but with tourney time coming around, everyone is preparing for the dance...

We did use the "choose your opponents players" technique awhile back as well, that was fun...

We're expecting a slugfest tonigh - Lips, Potsie and I are tipping off in about an hour.  We don't plan on going out and got two cases of Lite.  Sperling should be arriving shortly as well, probably with some SoCo.  Stay tuned...
Title: The Dirtiness Saga continues

Yeah, tonight started on a sour night...  Not just because I lost, but because we entered the 10th inning tied at 10.  Pretty much when the inning was starting, I leaned on over to push play on the CD player because the CD just ended, nothing too "tremory" to the floor...and then the freeze frame.  Yup, the fucking Nintendo just froze.  Fucking bullshit...  So Gantry and I did the only thing that seemed to make sense.  We started another game in sudden death mode -- whoever lead at the end of first inning would be the winner...keeping intact our pitchers from last game.  So Mr. Hernandez came in and went 1, 2, 3 against Hendrik, DeCinces, and Burlson -- all ground outs to TB.  AT started off the bottom of the first with a single against the wall (so close to a game winning homer).  Then the Chuds came...  Double play, followed by another out.  Gantry eventually got a homer and won 1-0 in the second...kind of meaning 11-10.  Shitty way to end a game, but oh well.

Oh yeah, by the way...Wilfong hit four homers for Gantry.  Plus, it was the first time Gantry ever subbed Joyner (in the 1st inning of the post-dirtiness event) as he was ass 'n titties in the game.

Speaking of a Houston-St. Louie matchup, me and Stuart played maybe our greatest game of all time.  Remember, we play curvy and we LOVE the low scoring NL games.  Anyway, I was Houston, and was leading in the ninth, but he tied it in the top of the inning, forcing extries.  Eventually we find ourselves in the 14th inning, still tied 3-3 thanks to pitching and defense, down to our last pitchers (not using the second starter).  My pitcher, the British Bulldog Davey Boy Smith, is hitting with Reynolds standing on third with 2 outs in the bottom of the 14th.  I just knew we were going to the 15th, but the Bulldog came through with a SHOT down the left field line that actually hit the wall in the air.  We both thought it was going to go through the wall for the first official pitcher homer, but it hit the base of the wall on the fly. So dramatic.  I win 4-3.  I almost got emotional.

It gives me hope that I will see a pitcher homer in my lifetime.  In series now, I will start Davey Boy in the second game, just to give him some at bats, then bring Scott in later, which he is best at anyway.

well dill,  in our title matches tonight, i used minnesota and i would just like to admit that i am wrong... some pitchers hit better than others.  what i found is that blyleven is good for a line drive a game... not always a hit but is much better than the usual duck fart to the pitcher.   reardon can also handle the stick.   viola was a little weak and brngr never had an at bat.
