Title: 87 World Series Program
Post by: BeeJay on 11/11/06, 11:35:20 PM
Tonight I found a program from the 87 Series.  Somehow, I don't remember ever seeing it before, but it's got some good stuff on all the playoff teams.  Also, the ads are almost as good as the baseball stuff.  Anyway, if there's any interest, I'll scan a bunch of stuff and post it when I have time.

Does it give player descriptions?

Aren't you supposed to be blacklisted for being a douchebag with the database?

Here ya go.  It's mainly Cardinal stuff, but all the teams have rosters and team photos.  There's also some classic ads including Coke, Marlboro, SportsService, Busch, a DD ad featuring Don Baylor, and the legendary Zip Rzeppa in full 80s sportscaster glory.

great pics BJ.

this reminds of 2 items i have from that era.  A superbowl program from the Broncos/Redskins SB of 87 season, and also a Panini sticker album from 1988.  Each teams page had something like 12 players sticker you had to collect and put in the book.  Every MIN player in the book was on RBI.  NY was close with only Sid fernandez not making the game.   I'll see if i can scan in some of those RBI team pics?

BJ is dead on, those ads of yesteryear are always cool to see again.

Interesting that Baylor is in the program but was on 86 Red Sox in RBI.  Was he traded mid-season?

baylor played with boston in 86, minnesota in 87 and oakland in 88.  he was on three consecutive different playoff teams.  kinda like ron gant and kenny lofton in recent years.

Baylor played all of '86 with the Red Sox, and he wasn't traded to the Twins until August of '87, which is probably why they put him on the Red Sox and not the Twins for the game.

he had a lot better world series for the twins than he had for the redsox, however.

al michaels just looks like a real nice, sweet guy with his pic in the "on the air" page.
