Title: Who is the RBI pitcher who....
Post by: Big Apple RBI Champ on 12/02/06, 12:26:15 PM
has the most blown saves coming in games he starts?  I mean who gets screwed by his bullpen the most in that they blow his potential wins?

I think it's Mike Witt.  The guy has great stuff.  I struck out 14 guys with him once in a competitive game.  He goes 6, maybe 6.1, and then Corbett and Moore can't get 8/9 outs.

I agree on the Angels bullpen, I would also throw in Hernandez and King.

I don't mind Corbet, but I think we're all aware of Moore's shortcomings.

I think the Red Sox bullpen is the worst.  Clemens can go 7, 8 or almost 9 innings, but do you really trust stanley/schiraldi to get the last few outs?

I trust Stanley for 4-6 outs, for sure...he has wicked movement.

I agree with JD here.  I love Bob Stanley.  6 outs no problem.  Schiraldio can get 3 outs.  Boston is the classic 6,2,1 formula for victory.

nacho is right...before we adopted the houston/st. louis matchup, i would always play as boston...and schiraldi gives new levels of meaning to the term "bag of ass"

I'm willing to permanently apply the label of "bag of ass" to Schiraldi, but I will not hear of such things with Mr. Stanley Steamer.

exactly, you can bank on stanley for an inning or two (maybe three if you get lucky) but once schiraldi comes in, the game is pretty much lost.

I agree Schiraldi is a bag of ass, however even a bag of ass (E King) can get 3 outs usually.

Red Sox Bullpen is without a doubt, no question about it, the WORST bullpen in the game.  It's a shame because Clemens is so good, but I REFUSE to use Boston in man vs. man because that bullpen blows so bad.  There should be no debate about this.  Boston bullpen is the worst.  Schiraldi can kiss it.

If I have a relatively big lead, I might trust Stanley to get me through a couple innings, but if it's close, bad things happen with him on the mound.  Most of the time I try to have rocket get me through the entire game. I'll even throw him out for an extra innning or two with questionable stuff to avoid putting in stanely or schiraldi. He's probably the only pitcher where I go in thinking I may need to get 9 out of.

Do you really think Corbett/ Moore are better than Steamer/ Calvin?

I think Corbet is better than Stanley or Calvin. Moore is on par with Schiraldi, probably slightly worse than stanely. I don't have too many complaints about the angels staff other than moore being completely un-clutch.

Stanley > Schraldi > King

Not debatable.

Don't make me come out to N Ca just to shove Orosco up your ass in your weekly tourney...

Orosco = best RP in the game

Are you still doing the weekly tourneys?  Eventually, I will be out to visit family in the Livermore/Dublin area...also in the San Ramon and Stockton areas.

we didn't do it this week.  i have been super busy with my wedding and school finals both coming up in a couple of weeks.

if you can give me a more specific date than eventually, i can at least put together a 4 man round robin, with all solid rbiers

Corbett and Moore are awful, Schiraldi too. Stanley is reliable for at least one inning. King and Hernandez are OK. Berenguer is nasty, and Reardon is fine.

I like pitchers that move the ball and have sharp curveballs , like Blyleven, Krukow, and Scott.

The Angels have the worst pitching staff. The bullpen is horrible when it comes to closing a game out. What i do is have my bullpen guys start the game for me verses human players so i have a better chance at winning.
