Who were previous winners of national tournaments? Without talking trash (i.e. you cant vote for yourself) is there a consensus as to who the best player on the board is (ATG, 1 starter)?
i think everyone here would agree that moses is the best
JoeDirt is the best regular that we know of, there are a few other players around at his level but they don't partipate much.
After that who knows, a lot of us are pretty good.
TBT would have one the most recent tournament if not for having a deer explode on his car.
Have TBT and JoeDirt played before in a tournament/fest? Either pre-deer or post-deer?

I think they played a few practice games for Joe Dirt's C-Bus tourney but nothing that actually counted. And at that point TBT, while still a good player, had yet to be tutored under JoeDirt. I actually knocked his ass out of the C-Bus tourney, unfortunately not before he hit a bomb against me with Stinky Sullivan. Worst RBI moment ever.

We should have sent you home right then...
I think at that point TBT could have cared less about the remainder of our series and died a happy man. A Stinky Sullivan homer is a special thing, especially during an actual tournament.
Joe dirt is from what i recall researching the only player to place in all 3 of the last 3 tourneys. Riley and Beales had been considered elite as well in 04 and 05, but they didnt do so hot this year(were off thier games according to dirt). So if i had to pick a lock to place in 07, my money is 100% on Joe Dirt. this year there were a lot of guys that came outta nowhere as new players to shake the cotut world, so at this point its anyones guess who the actual best might be.
dirt has mentored me thru emails, phone calls, and pigeon carrier services and i bet he still crushes me.
stupid sexy deers.
mclane beat me and that is all there is to it.
in hindsight i had a good plan after winning the Bos/Det mctch-up and in game 2 to try and take the series i selected NY ebcause of thier pitching...mclane picked Cal. however it wasnt until about a year later that i really learned how to be good with NY. i lost that game, then got ran over in the series finale. roadkill is me.

You remember the details of the series? All I remember is the Sullivan bomb and I think Wally Joyner simply eating you up.
I might go on a hardcore training binge for the tourney in June and see how I stack up. Losing to fighton in the opening round really fucked me. Blowing a 2-1 series lead in a best of five to GDavis didn't help either.

Mclane, can't you make it through just won post without looking like an idiot?
the stinky sullivan homer gave me a 2 run lead around the 7th and i hung on for something like a 4-3 win(?)
the NY thing i destinctly remember. i started gooden, and he got shelled to the tune of 4 runs in 6 innings i believe. i remember 1 dude killing him and it was prolly joyner.
game 3 i had MIN who i rarely used, so i knew i was fucked, and u had SF. from what i remember you got an early lead and won by something like 4-1.
and vs Gdavis i hit an evans grannie to take a 4-1 lead in game 1, and he battled back for the win. i dont remember game 2, but game 3 saw Spillman go yard for me to tie or give me a 1 run lead in the last 3 and then Clark added a shot to seal the deal an inning later.
i remember a sense of a lot of pressure coming over me after the evans shot...proly cause i was fearful of blowing the lead which i did.....and i remember the clark shot brought me back down cause i knew minus a terrible collapse, i was gonna win.
Sorry to break the news guys, JoeDirt is really a computer. Ever heard of Big Blue?
And Kidtriangle was awesome, so was Triumph, he went toe to toe with KT

Apparently not. That's pretty bad.

Not to sound like the dick that this makes me, but I beat Kid Triangle approximately 19 out of 20 times.
Oh, and unfortunately, I have not yet had the pleasure of playing TBT...
I'll probably get smoked but GDavis and I will get in game shape here in Manhattan and we'll come out to the next tourney.
When is it?
All you can do is put your guys in a position to win. I thought I did that when I made GDavis's Doyle throw 40 mph against the heart of my Bosox order the other day. Groundout to short by Rice, hard liner directly to leftfielder by Baylor... ok- i said i wouldn't make excuses for my loss...
I knew that loss would stick with me and it has.
BTW, GDavis spoke reverently about Joe Dirt in our conversations.
dontcha mean reverendly, as in church of fudge?
What are you saying--you're coming out for the OH tourney?
Assuming it's a draw (a lot of guys come to OH from this board), then GDavis and I are likely to come out there. Is there a date yet?
Is it ATG/ 1 starter?
atg/2 SP...what do you men by "draw?"
(a lot of guys come to OH from this board)

It's a 16 player tourney, first come, first serve. So it doesn't matter where you're from if you send JoeD your check right away.

YES! finally I am recognized for my skills!
CPU is hoping it draws moses in the first round
2 starters might keep me away. My game is wearing out the other guys' SP, getting to bullpen early.

You wussed out because of this a few COTUTs ago, too. Don't let it frighten you. Just try playing with 2 SP for a bit. I'll say it again--Riley and I were strictly 1 SP players until we found out about the COTUT 3 yrs ago...so we adjusted our game in an effort to practice by COTUT rules...we happen to like it better with 2 SP, but it's still the same game. I'd argue that with 2 SP, you have to TAKE TAKE TAKE even more than in 1 SP...in 1 SP, you know you're going to get to a tired pitcher eventually--it's just a matter how many/much/long...
Plus, and this is just one (expert) man's opinion, but 2 SP makes teams more competitive, over all...
i play 5 SP

I disagree JD. I would say you get a tired pitcher only about 25% of the time in 1 SP format. Most times you can go 6,2,1 with your 3 pitchers and make it through.
I would not take pitches with intention of wearing hurlers down in 2 SP format.
Big Apple...that's fine, but what experience do you have in 2 SP play?
I think 2 SP is probably/possibly better for determining championship because it forces to maintain a level of intensity, you can't afford any mistakes.
Personally, I'll always prefer to play 1 SP

Hey, I'm KidTriangle. Joe is the best I've ever played, but...never played in person. AND, I was using a damn keyboard the whole time. Eff you.
There are close friends and family members of mine that are not a part of this board whom I regard to be in the top 25 RBI players ever. If there were ever a dee-nee fest or tourney in Northern California, a lot of you would see a BUNCH of unknown talent that would send your lil' muffs a-swirlin'!
You mean like something held on a weekly basis, at a bar, in Northern California, and run by a well-known member Dee-Nee?
noah, if you are ever near the bay on a tuesday i have a weekly tourney here in santa rosa.
