I'm pretty sure everyone who wanted to see it has seen it by now...

My bench and relief staff are incredible, and thank fucking god it didn't come down to my LF's error in the 9th, as I'd be bitching about the awful call on Foster's 3 run bomb in the first.

That game had more outs on the basepaths than a match-up between me and Attezz at the tail-end of a night of the drinking game.

Lemme know when those interested parties (Attezz, Nomaaa, anyone else?) have watched it too.  Suppressing emotion is difficult.

Cy Young award voting has been released and not suprisingly Cy Young did not win the award named after him.  Mike Scott won a nearly unanimous decision getting 19 of a 20 possible first place votes.  Dwight Gooden finished 2nd followed by Whitey Ford.  Congratulations to Mike Scott on a tremendous regular season.

WS Game 1:  Attez 33 Octo 29 (10 inn)

Single, Single, HR.  Repeat.  That's the way the game started as Attez had a 6-0 lead after 6 batters thanks to 3-run shots from Foster and Campanella.  Octo trailed 10-0 when they came to bat in the 2nd, and they led 11-10 when they came out for the 3rd.  The Cansecos combined for 3 HRs and 7 RBIs in the inning as NES hit 2 3-run shots and all of a sudden we had a ballgame.  Back and forth it went, Octo led 19-18 after 4 and 27-23 after 7.

In the 8th Attez got a PH HR from Cany Maldonado, then a 1B from Trammell, a 2B by Ozzie Smith, and a 1B by Eddie Matthews, after an RBI groundout by Foster, Hack Wilson hit a 2-run HR to give Attez a 28-27 lead.  Dwight Evans led off the bottom of the 8th with a PH HR to tie the game back up, but that's all Octo could muster so it was 28-28 headed to the 9th.  Keith Hernandez finally broke out of his slump to hit a 1 out solo shot in the 9th, but Ozzie Smith stranded Tim Raines at 2nd stiking out for the 3rd time in the game.  In the bottom of the 9th Davey Johnson hit a 1 out 2B the George Foster dropped a line drive off Mike Schmidt's bat, putting runners on 1st and 3rd with 1 out for Octo.  CansecoNES hit a 2B right over the first basemen's head for an RBI 2B, but Schmidt was thrown out at the plate by a mile and then Whitey Ford retired CansecoARC to get out of the jam, headed to the 10th tied at 29.

Foster and Campanella hit a 2-run shots in the 10th reminiscent of the first innning to give Attez a 33-29 lead.  Nokes led off the bottom of the 10th with a PH 2B but after a Roger Mcdowell pop up, Gary Gaetti hit into a 3-5 DP to end the game.

WS Game 2 Attez 30 Octo 24

For the first 6 1/2 innings it was all Attez as he built a 12-1 lead in the 4th against another struggling performance from Cy Young winner Mike Scott.  Attez led 20-7 after batting in the top of the 7th, but Guidry was tiring and he wasn't coming out.  Octo got 7 HRs off of him in the 7th by 7 different batters to cut the lead to 20-18 when Niekro came in to relieve with 2 outs in the 7th he gave up another HR, a PH shot by Dave Henderson to tie the game at 20.

But for Octo the comeback was short lived as Tom Henke was lit up giving up 6 HRs in the 8th including Campanella's 3rd and 4th of the game and Attez held on from there.

The series now stands at 2-0 Attez and the series heads to Attez's home stadium for the next 3 games (Game 5 if necessary)

WS Game 3  Octo 33 Attez 14  (Series 2-1 Attez)

As the series moved to Attez Stadium, the home fans had high hopes with a 2-0 series lead, but Mike Scott returned to his regular season form and Octo led throughout building a 13-3 lead after 4 and leading 19-10 going to the 9th before scoring 14 runs off Whitey Ford in the 9th to really make their point that this series is far from over.

WS Game 4  Octo 26 Attez 16  (Series tied 2-2)

The road team has now won all 4 games of the series as Octo dominated for the 2nd straight day and Mike Scott pitched his 2nd consecutive complete game.  Octo built an 8-0 lead in the 2nd and never looked back leading 18-10 after 6 and again getting runs off Whitey Ford in the 9th.  Davey Johnson had another big game for Octo as did Mike Schmidt and Roger Maris.

Game 5 will be the last home game of the season for Attez, and that may be a good thing for them.

Game 5- Octo 31 Attez 17  (Series 3-2 Octo)

The road team has now won all 5 games of the series as Octo has won 3 straight blowouts outscoring Attez 90-47 in the 3 games at Attez stadium.  Octo scored 13 in the 2nd thanks to 3 HRs from the Canseco clones and pulled ahead 15-3 and never looked back.  Attez closed it to 23-16 in the 7th but that was as close as it got.  Maris and CansecoARC each had 3 HRs for Octo and Mike Scott pitched his 3rd straight complete game.

Game 6 attached with all it's story lines.  Can Octo finish it off and take the series or will Attez force a game 7?  Will the road team domination continue?  Can Mike Scott pitch a 4th straight complete game?

Game 6  Attez 21 Octo 16  (Series tied 3-3)

Well it will come down to a Game 7, as Attez held off Octo to force a final game.  Attez jumped out to an early 10-2 lead, but Octo fought back tying it at 13 in the 6th.  But Roy Campanella was too much as he hit 3 more HRs in Game 6 and helped put the game away.  Game 7 will be again at Octo stadium making Attez the favorite as the road team has now won all 6 games in the series.

Game 7 - A terrific game

1-2-3 1st innings for both teams.  Attez started the scoring in the 2nd getting 8, thanks to a 2 out 3 run shot by Hack Wilson after a 2 run shot by Jack Clark.  But Octo got 5 back in the bottom of the 2nd thanks to a 3 run shot by CansecoARC to cut it back to 8-5.  Attez was held scoreless in the 3rd, but Octo got 7 more thanks to 5 HRs to pull ahead 12-8.

Attez got 4 in the 4th to tie it and got a 1-2-3 inning from Guidry so we went to the 5th tied at 12.  Foster, Wilson, and Ott hit back to back to back shots off Saberhagen in the 5th to pull ahead 16-12, but Octo got 3 right back thanks to a 2 run HR by Laudner to cut it back to 16-15.  Octo went ahead 19-16 after 6 thanks to HRs by CansecoNES and Maris.

In the top of the 7th Foster and Wilson each hit their 3rd HR of the game to tie it at 19 and an RBI single by Joe Niekro put Attez up 20-19, but Jack Clark was thrown out at the plate also trying to score on the single to end the inning for Attez.  Davey Johnson led off the bottom half with a solo shot to tie the game up, then the Cansecos hit back to back doubles to go up 21-20, but Niekro was able to escape further damage.

Henke was able to retire Smith and Matthews to start the 8th before Foster and Wilson went back to back for the 3rd time in the game to take the lead.  Campanella and Clark then hit a 2 run shots and Attez led 26-21.  A single by Maris and a 2 run shot from Decinces forced Niekro from the game, after a Johnson single, the Cansecos went back to back to tie the game off Cy Young and we went to the 9th all tied up.

Ozzie led off the 9th with an IF single, after Matthews K'ed, George Foster hit his 5th HR of the game to give Attez a 2 run lead but McDowell reited 2 of the next 3 to get out the inning.  Maris led off the bottom of the 9th with a double, but Decinces hit into a 3-5 double play, and Attez stood 1 out away from a Championship.  Davey Johnson hit a solo shot to keep Octo alive.  Doubles by Schimdt and CansecoNES tied the score and the a single by CansecoARC drove in CansecoNES for the Championship winning run.  The road team finally wins a game in the series and a monster game from George Foster is spoiled by Octo.

Octo 29 Attez 28  (Octo wins series 4-3)

Jose Canseco won unanimous WS MVP.  By cloning himself for Octo he managed to tie himself for the WS HR leader with 13.  Both Cansecos killed Attez pitching for the entire series.

On Monday I'll try to remember to finally post the final spreadsheet which includes the combined WS stats
