Title: Nightwulf. Question, re: Rickey Rom
Post by: seddrah on 02/15/04, 02:39:52 AM
I completed my Rickey Rom by using a friend's PC--the  Mac reads that site strangely.

On the main screen during a game, a few of the teams names end up listed incorrectly.

For instance, if you choose team "Se", the team is listed as Seattle in the opening menu and in all other places, but during game play--on the scoreboard--the team is incorrectly listed as "Ny" in a strange red and green box.  Similarily my "La" team reads "To" for Toronto and also is in a red and green box during game play.

Strange indeed.  Any suggestions on fixing this?

by the way--the only thing that I may have done strange would be to leave the pitcher's UNKNOWN categories as "0" for all.

Thanks!

i dont think it has anything to do with the 0 unknowns...i created a rom and got the same thing (sometimes) and used numbers within the original unknown ranges.

Well that's bizarre. It's fixed, I think. Been months since I touched that code, but I think I found (and fixed) the problem.

Then again, I found another while trying to load your ROM. I removed the apostrophes from your attract-mode team names, otherwise the ROM wouldn't load, due to a stupid Javascript error by me. For now, I think you can enter apostrophes in the editor and build the ROM, but don't save it.

Still working on the rewrite ...

i could be wrong on why this error occurs, but here's my opinion:

i think this happens when you haven't saved your changes in the online editor and if you've erased the default two letter team name, then it's like leaving it blank.  be sure you've gone and made the changes to the team name you want and then save... see if that works.

Thanks again, Nightwulf!   you are the best.

I had totally forgotten about the apostrophes in the team names, since they don't show up.

I'm going to go to my friend's PC today and see if I can't get it to work properly.  Then I'm going to reduce a few my pitcher's curve balls.  Sure, Aaron Sele should have a decent curve, but he shouldn't be dominate...

When I'm happy with it, I will post the game in this forum
