Im jumping the gun on this by a few hours, but its time to roll with this. There have been virtually jack for ballots cast this last week, and the 4th place inductee has a very commanding lead over the next guy on the list.

How they got in...
Reggie notched an astonishing 52% of the maximum points he could score. In a round about way that would break down to him basically averaging a 3rd place vote on everyone's ballot. Being placed on just under 70% of all ballots cast is also an astonishing feat. If not for Dawson's strong showing, he would have leveled the competition in the department of 1st place votes.
Mark McGwire was the mark of consistency as he was featured in the top 3 on most all the ballots that were cast for him (14 of 17 for 82%). While Evans pales in comparison with the numbers of his top 3 votes, his 17 ballots is still very impressive. He did clean up on 4th place votes receiving 6 of those.
Who was left out of the hall...
McGwire and Evans were clearly off the pace of all time RBI greats Jackson and Dawson, but still garnered enough support to easily enter the Hall of Fame. However further back are an assortment of key players who will look to lay claim to induction in August of 2007.
Great pitching took center stage as some of the best fire-ballers then dominated the next tier of votes. It's hard to say if there will be another dominant ballot performance similar to the likes that Reggie and Andre received. With that said there are some of the games biggest performers waiting in the wings for a future induction.

The front runners for August 2007...
The arms race seems to be in vogue after the big bats with names like Clemens, Ryan, Tudor, and Gooden. Roger and Ryan, amassed votes on a good deal of ballots, while John Tudor and Doc Gooden cleaned up with their share of 1st place votes to garner some respect for their abilities. From there Armas lead the way with votes, as the Ballots were fairly favorable towards his gaudy power abilities.
The combination of speed and power were the next big thing as Strawberry and Gibson had strong showing, followed by speedster Tim Raines. Surprisingly so some of the games biggest bats were practically anonymous in the voting. You could practically field an all star quality team of players that scored 20 points or less. Big names like Boston bombers Don Baylor and Jim Rice. The American League's dynamic duo placed even worse with George Bell faring poorly, and Jose Canseco received a total of 1 vote.

What the numbers indicate....
Looking ahead to the future ballots, its probably safe to say that Reggie's 132 points could be the most of all time. Regardless of votes cast next time, be it more or less, the percentages will have to be the measuring stick. Another telling tale will be the percentages of top 3 votes a plaer recieves. The next selection process will occur in mid July 2007. We will induct an additional 4. At the moment, I believe the cap for the hall of fame should be around 20 players. The numbers would boil down to that being just over 10% of the games players making the hall. It would certainly seperate the elite from the good. once 8 are in we will scale back to only inducting 3 at a time.

Gantry has given the OK to set aside a page honoring the 4 RBI'ers that are to be inducted. This page will include a pic of each player, a small write up on him, and id like to get a few quotes and select the best from those who had given 1st place to votes to each player explaining what makes the player the premiere dominating force for them. Think linear notes of worship from a tribute cd or something of that manner(?)

Since Evans topped my list I'd like to say.....
"Evans always topped my list as the #1 player in the game. I've had many crucial homers by Evans in my playing days, but what makes him stand out for me was just how much I fear his sheer power ability. That Detroit line-up is already filled with some big bats, but what puts them over the top in the "scary" department as an opponent is Evans
since none of the players i voted for were inducted, can i just automatically re-up my ballot for next time?
yeah, why not.
some may opt to just bump up thier guys who didnt make it and add in a few more. others may just start the whole thing over from scratch.
Reggie Jackson has exploding power to all fields, is a great clutch performer, and can hit the gappers and basehits with the ball just jumping off his bat. His exit speed(ball coming off the bat) has been recorded at 333 mph. Reggie is very consistent and in my experience, he has the most intentional walks in RBI.
This summer, Reggie Jackson went 4-4 with four laser like moonshots that disappeared into the twilight sky. AND THIS DONE ON THE FOUR PITCHES HE SAW in that game.

Pitchers fear Mcgwire. Any pitch in the strike zone is a potential home run pitch. This forces many players to take the safe route and give him a walk. The threat lies in the fact that he is a substitute, and you can bring him into a situation where the pitcher cant afford a walk. I have found that no other batter can put the pitcher in the hot seat quite like Mcgwire.
I gave Reggie the nod because he is the games top power hitter. I don't often play with California so my admiration for Reggie was developed largely through facing him. Every time I give the guy a pitch to hit he knocks it out of the yard prompting me to pitch around him when the situation calls for it, a sign of respect I give to no other player in the game.
Not to say that Mcgwire isn't #2 HOF vote worthy, but I did gave him the #2 vote instead of what probably would have been a #3-#5 vote due to him getting snubbed in the real HOF vote. In fact, I may start voting for quality player in real life and RBI who have not currently (or never will be) voted into the NBHOF because of off field issues and/or poor media relations (Rice, Doc, Strawberry, Canseco).
EDIT: Straw and Doc are not NBHOFers but you get the point.
McGwire's phenomenal power off the bench can largely be attributed to teammate hJose Canseco's pre-game injections. While the casual RBI observer may view McGwire's RBI stature as 'portly' just like all of the other RBIers, McGwire's stout, puffy nature is all muscle underneath that RBI uniform. RBI players are encouraged to take advantage of the pop in this pre-acne McGwire's bat whenever he can, because word around Capitol Hill is that Congress is set to remove McGwire from Tengen Field sometime in late 2007.
I selected Andre Dawson first because of his AWE-INSPIRING POWER </Mike D>. And as we all know, power trumps pitching, so Dawson by association is the best player in the game.
He also was easily the MVP of the Stock Fantasy League, where he led the One-Nut Kruks to the brink of the title. Long live the Hawk!

Reggie is a fkn animal. He rarely sees a strike, and still produces more runs(for me) than any other hitter. No other hitter intimidates pitchers the way he does; from reputation alone. Good enough contact to hit outside pitches off the end of the bat with power, and fast enough to not be a liability on the basepaths if he is walked.

After Reggie went yard 4 times on four pitches for me this past summer, my friend elected not to pitch to him at all in the next game. Reggie got the Bonds treatment, even with no outs and nobody on.

i can probably make that happen, but if someone with more photoshop skills wants to put together a background or change the rbi guy i design, that might make a good team effort.
