i need to find an RBI instruction manual online to print off for those not familiar with the game. google hasnt helped me so far. anyone got a link?
OK, looks like Im all set up with the location inside the bar. Created flyers for the bar, and elsewhere. Got all the team attribute pages, and got em laminated(to prevent the spilage of beer from fuckin em up). made some dials and got some friends who are supposed to show up as "warm" bodies just to play to get our feet wet.
Copy of the flyer below. BOOYA!

next up is to get a slug of brackets printed out to cover any tourney's that have 4 players, and also the 5-8 variety. its only monday but im getting giddy.
If this doesn't work (http://www.nesfiles.com/NES/RBI_Baseball/RBI_Baseball.pdf)
Go here and look for it as the last in the list of downloads (http://dee-nee.com/rbi/links.shtml)
soon joe dirt will be basking in the awesomeness of my RBI flyer.
That was your 6969th post. Retire now.
Most excellent flyer...EXCELLENT!
Love the flyer TBT, that's good stuff.
BOOYA. ive gotten a small assembly of friends lined up to show tomorro. with myself included there should be 4 of us...along with another guy who is there after work(who ive played before in RBI).
The flyer is at the tat shop as well. The guy said a couple people were planning on going to check it out as well. My tat guy was gonna show...prolly not to play but to check it out.
If theres 5 or 6 of us playing, i'll consider it a success. brackets were made to accomodate winners and losers brackets in the event of a 4 man tourney and a 5-8 man tourney as well. got it all covered no mater how many show up.
broiler, did you guys just have 8 people each time?
I seriously hate Maryland, it took me fifteen minutes last night to convine a bar with about 17 televisions (one with Dancing with the stars on) to finally decide to put the Rockies game on, and then it took another ten for them to find the fucking game.
This was a bar that had maybe 10 people in it, including me and my buddy who was in charge of the radio station that was broadcasting from it.
I think that convincing a bar in this area to allow Nintendo to be played on it will happen only after TRoogs cures cancer. (My brother's bar fell through, cause he's a bit douchey)
I think TBT should change his name to Turds... Butt Turds...

no, not every time. but we averaged about 8. some weeks there was 5, and some weeks there was 12. i think the best turnout we had was 14.
also, this is awesome that you are doing this. dont get discouraged if there isn't alot of early interest. the attendance level seemed to grow with each week
not bad 1st night. 4 of us. Half ass round robin play. A couple buddies of mine and this regular. I was hoping for 5 or 6 but it was raining outside and the place was dead.
How'd you do, though?
did alright. won by over 10 runs in both games. competition was the opposite of stiff though. 4 of us playing. it was sort of a winner plays the next game deal. i mostly just let the other guys play, and got in a couple games.
it was fun watching newbies play. the 1st game was a back and forth Boston/Detroit battle won in the bottom of the 9th 11-10. dudes did pick up the defense and such pretty fast. One guys was all over pop flys.
Rez(the regular) was all drunk but could still half ass play. he does a spot on buffalo bill "it puts the lotion on its skin" impersonation. fkn awesome. to which i replied if buffalo bill was from arkansas, he'd say "it puts the lotion on its kin".
The bar has a thursday night happy hour from 10-2. 50 cent draws/75 cent pints. me thinks i need to pimp out this fact on the flyer. sounds like it'll be us 4 there again next thursday night. that placw picked up after aout 10:30.
usually theres a varied crowd down there, but tonight was completely dead. as in 3-4 people there the whole time. monday-tuesday-wednesday are the big darts/pool nights here. thursday is dead everywhere.
Back on for tomorrow. theres a chance that 2 of the regular RBI tourney crew will be there, so thats a positive. It'll give me some tough games for sure. im still just looking for a turn out of 5-6 to consider it a good success. Rez(The drunk guy), wants to come by and start playing so he can pick up his game, so the wheels are a turnin.
The weather was crappy last week, and the place was dead. Heres to no down pouring rain.
6 dudes this week. I met chad from the fd rbi crew in round 2. I lost 4-3. I threw out matt nokes from right field twice in the game but that fucker hit the game winner in the top of the 9th. Im waiting 2 play in loser bracket and get back 2 the finals.
I lost out in the championship round. chad seems to have my number when we play 2SP. i blew the early game with bedrosian...i made some dumb/shitty pitches with him. side armers are tough to hit, but they can still get rocked like anyone else.
we reeled in a regular there and my buddy brought a friend who joined in. there were a couple games where a guy quit, but that was ok cause it sped things uip. some of these newbs plays some damn long games. especially when the score is 8-4 in the 6th inning for example. 20+ minute games from those players.
things continue to look promising. i ran into the owner of the bar. he's letting me store my bigger tv there in a back room. its prolly a 25 inch and its a mofo to haul in there all the time. now im down to only needing to bring a box of 2 NES and a 19 inch tv.
he also mentioned a big screen he had for us to use. i went down there yesterday and its got a 40 some inch screen that he brought in thats up against the wall. that'll rule to use that.
fast forward to the grocery store last night and i see a guy who came with my buddy last week. he tells me he's supposed to practice on wednesday so hes better prepared for the tourney. booya!
im going to dig out a 3rd nintendo and get it ready....12 players could be on the horizon sooner than thought.
eh...4 players again. Chad and i finished with a cotut style best of 5. Followed by hou/stl game won by a walk off kevin bass 2 run homer in the 10th or 11th inning.
last night was kind of a buzzkill with the other participants being somewhat hammered and myself and chad not. it worked out though as we played a ton of games later on. always more fun to play an equal opponent anyways.
This thursday night thing is the shit. I'm sure word will spread like wildfire and before you know it, you are setting up major tourney with professional brackets and all. btw, the banner poster thing is a class act.
I have nother buddy who I pretty much consider an equal at the game. problem is he's only able to get out about once a week to play darts on wednesday. We're working on getting him to drop that BS and come out for RBI instead.
the bar's extra 40 some inch TV should be fixed and in the back where we play for next thursdaynight. Me thinks that'll add some allure to the whole thing.
My 3 regulars were all no-shows tonight....however a guy i'd met before was there and we played 3 games. he was actually kinda good. he could field almost like a pro and had some other good parts to his game. hes supposedly going to be on tap fpr next week. get my buddy chad in the mix some more and the competition is getting better.
i beat him 4-1, 2-1(in 15 innings), and 6-3. that fool could play defense! for a guy who hasnt played in 10+ years he misjudged maybe 2-3 fly balls all night. and that is with a juke box blaring so you cant really hear the sound of the fly ball. i am impressed.
small turnout again. we went soreta round robin or sorts between 3 of us and a 3rd guys(who is getting better) played a game or 2. I played a couple STL/HOU games vs my buddy to finish the night. he won 4-1, and then took a 15 inning game 2-1 both with STL.
theres one guy that even got in some practice recently and he just doesnt get the defense at all. he plays defense like moses does. some of the groundballs and pop ups that he misses just blows my mind.
Still at this mofo. Work has been hectic lately so each week its been a toss up as to whether or not id make it due to working late. I havent been advertising this as well on account of work the last month. I dropped off a flyer at a local gas station so hopefully that gets the ball rolling again.
The one dissapointment so far has been that i havent been able to discover much in terms of a "new" talented guy. one guy's game is fairly respectable, but he drinks himself silly and can only compete for a few games.
is it goreds?

Do you live in like Dog River, or something?
