This thread is where you can post the results or highlights/lowlights (Lips) of recently played RBI games. Your RBI skill can shine brightly here when you win but it may also gloom dimly here when you get your ass handed to you.
And Lips this weekend, if you want, maybe a third time will be a charm? What do you think? You may just find your name on the backend of this topic. Time will tell.
And TREE, I will wear my Rafael Santana badge with pride and joy. I feel I'm coming up to Gary Pettis level soon.
As you'll see come March, Lockhart's luck won't last forever. The same will hold true for you... I'm always up for some RBI, so if you're in town...head on over.
Potsie and I just tried our first game with Dill's "sub your opponents players" style and it was very fun. I had Minnesota and Potsie had Cali (we chose randomly). The final with 11-10 with a walk-off homer by.... Bob Boone!
Randy Bush is definitely the second best player on Mn after Hrbek. Got me 3 dingers...
Potsie and Lips are going next, Potsie got Boston and Lipitz has Stl. That's a tough matchup for Lips....
Highlight of the game - I had a check-swing homer with Davidson. By check-swing, I mean where you purposely tap-A before the pitch is thrown, called the Tettleton in the glossary...
Just had one of my better managerial moments against Potsie, here's the scenario:
Based loaded, one out, up by four. Brian "Mister Double Play" Downing steps to the plate. I take the ten drink strikeout to let Ruppert Jones get a crack. The result? A Grand Slam and ten drinks for Potsie...
Final Score 15-9
Game three of tonight (Lips beat me in game two, which I'm very bitter tonight), and Potsie gets into the exact same situation - he has Cali, one out, bases loaded and Brian Downing up. He takes the Gantry technique and strikes out with Bread. Ruppert comes up....
Foul out...
Nice strategy with taking the strikeout. I like leaving the Grinch in the game though and subbing Rupert Jones for Boone in the 8 hole.
You know...I know I have been losing the past couple of week to Jason...But tonight I am just dominating the host of this site...Gantry is just getting his ass kicked right now. It's all a bout Detroit Rock City. And for all you college people...this next game is for you ya'll.
Dee-Nee!!!!
It's all about visiting the message board the next day, and finding out that you drunken-posted on the previous night. I kind of remember the post, but not really.
DRUNK!!!!!!!!
Finally, the SHRO has come back to Victory Lane...
Yeah, that's right. Jason finally went down in a best-of-three series, 2-1. After losing with Detroit in the first game, 14-11, I came back with Boston in the second game... Jason is still miffed about the pitcher intercepting a throw from third to first, stopping a double play at a crucial time. ROOKIE MISTAKES...
And then Detroit came out swinging in the final game when Jason made another mistake...Starting a game with Schiraldi...Yeah, I liked it -- 7 runs in the first...He eventually tied up the game in the third or fourth, but then Detroit started pounding out the ball again.
All I could say is, I have freed myself of the Jason demons. 'Til next series...
Well the third best-of-three series is over and Jason goes down sourfully. Like Lips said the frist game went to me and I started the game with Stanley to mix it up a bit. He lasted until the third and did a fantastic job. The second game produced my ALL-TIME RBI worst moment. The score was 12-8 (I was winning) in the bottom of the 8th inning. Lips had bases loaded with one out and the pitcher up to bat. Lips pulled the pitcher for Sullivan. 0-2 the count...sharp ground ball to the third baseman...he steps on third for the second out and makes the throw to first (a good throw, at that, that would made the double play) BUT...Jack Morris decides to catch the ball! Well needless to say that lead to 11 unearned runs that inning producing a mark in the loss column for me. I was not happy. The third game I thought that I started Schrialdi the first game and I wanted to do the same thing...whoops. 7 runs in the first off of 6 homers and stubborness by me not to take him out started the dimize. In the 4th Lips produced 8 more runs and ended the game with 5 unearned ones in the 7th and 8th. While I avoided the slaughter, to lose by 9 runs, that game should have neer happened if it wasn't for Jack Morris!!!
By the way I'm going to add the best pitch hitter in RBI is definately Sullivan! He's gotten me 2 three run homers, and 2 solo homers along with 3 doubles. In the limited time I've used him. He just gets it done. Not to mention that Sullivan produced the crucial hit and jinx my team to produce 11 earned runs.
Wins some lose some. Until next time.
One of my worst RBI days in recent memory.... Lips was very excited about RBI from his posts today, so we started playing the drinking game around 6:30. Lost the first game 21-15 and the second game was 20-20 in the bottom of the 9th with Lips batting and I threw my controller in disgust thereby losing. Didn't matter, I had a 4 run lead going in and he just crushed and I fucked up a fielding play. After that, lost to Potsie, which doesn't happen too often. About to get back in and redeem myself....
We always blow big leads in the 9th inning. I don't know what the deal is. Even Ozzie Smith hit a homer once in the 9th inning. I think its something about relief pitchers. Once i take my starter out, everyone gets ROCKED!!! This is especially true with New York and Boston. After DWI and The Rocket, all the other pitchers never get the job done. Sometimes it is good to start Orosco and let him pitch the first 2 or 3 innings, then go with DWI the rest of the way.
Mookie--
All I have to say is this...
Hiccups suck big time when you're playing RBI. But you know what? Lips won out in the end and that's what's crucial...
Ok, onto the bar.
Lips
And to finish up last nights totals, 1-4 with my only victory being a quick slaughter against Lips. It was a very strange day where I couldn't get any homers with my lefties, everything was right-handed. No lefty power = no victory....
Lips and Potsie are both playing well, this could be trouble come tourney time...
Ouch, tough day Gantry. But everyone goes through slumps. Joe usually kicks my ass, but certain days I get hot and he gets cold and I'll finish like 4-1. Everyone else is still our bitches though. Nobody can fuck with the power of room 212.
