It is now the end of football season and I will have no sports to keep me busy until baseball season starts, so here goes.
I will be doing another fantasy RBI league run in a very similar manner to last year's (http://forums.dee-nee.com/index.php?topic=13144.msg254830#msg254830).
Differences from last year.
1. This will not be Original NES players or stats. I am ripping off the great idea from the fantasy league that is going on in the "Anything Goes" board. Any player is eligible so long as they have played in at least 3,000 ABs. Although players that played in the 19th century may be eligible, they must be modern enough players for MLB.COM to have OBP% numbers for them.
2. You will need to pick 9 players only. One for each position, plus a DH.
3. I will have a complete player list of "RBI" stats used for the ROM by draft time.
More details to come.
At this point, just let me know if you are interested.
Drafting will be easy and very little time constraints. I will allow 24 hours to draft, and my goal is just to have drafting complete by the end of next week.
Again, you will have to do absolutely nothing other than draft your team, and set your line-up. I will be playing all the games.
I am hoping for 16 teams so I can have 4 divisions and a playoff similar to that of one conference in the NFL.
Keep in mind that this will take an entirely different drafting strategy than the fantasy league Shooty is running.
Takers:
1. Rack
2. Nomaaa
3. Ryno
4. Nacho
5. Ultimate
6. Shooty
7. Attezzobal
8. Big Hath
9. Me
10. GDavis
11. fknmclane
12. Beefmaster
13. Gantry
14. fightonusc
15. AlecTrevylan006
16. WeatherMatt
yes.
I'm in bro
3,000 games???? Do you realize only 8 players have played 3,000 games? It'll be an awfully short draft.
1. Pete Rose 3562 B
2. Carl Yastrzemski 3308
3. Hank Aaron 3298
4. Rickey Henderson 3081
5. Ty Cobb 3035
6. Eddie Murray 3026
6. Stan Musial 3026
8. Cal Ripken 3001
P.S. I'd be in for sharing a team with someone else. Don't know if I can fully commit to my own team.
well at least half the teams will have a player

There is no pitching.
I will be playing offense for both teams against the computer's (weakened) pitching. You can read the details from the link in the first post of this thread on how I worked it last year.
And yes, you could easily draft all cubs players if you want.
In.
I'm fairly sure I could find the time to draft 9 players, can you explain how you convert data to RBI stats

It's a secret ;) formula using lifetime and per AB stats including HRs, Slugging, triples, stolen bases, singles, doubles, runs scored, walks, OBP, and batting average using MLB.COM player stats.
The avg. and HR numbers that will "display" will be their 162 game career average numbers.
See the attached spreadsheet.
Couple of notes about the spreadsheet:
1. I do not have the "hand" filled in for everyone as just went down the list and populated those I knew off the top of my head. If you draft one of these guys, you will get the proper "hand", so don't worry. For a switch hitter, you will have to tell me how you would like them to bat. The default will be left handed.
2. I added a column for "position" to help out with the drafting. This is not complete and should just be used as a guide. You may assign players to a different position than what is listed as long as they have played said position in at least 150 games in their career.
3. It is possible that I may have missed some players (although am confident this list is 99% complete). Please PM me any other player you may be interested in drafting and I will calculate the ROM stats for you.
Alright, looks like we need incentive to get to 16 teams.
I am offering a first place prize of a $15 Amazon.com gift card (or $10 cash) to first place IF we get 14 dee-nee teams other than myself.
I will be able to talk one of my non-iffs to fill the last spot.
I'll do it
Ok, I'll play
Awesome!
Just 6 more spots to fill.
Where is Gantry? The Poopybutts need to defend their world title from last season.
In. And this time I won't pick Ohio State. You're fucked, Stock.
In.
POOPYBUTTS!!!
In
Fine, count me in
One more spot.
Who wants it?
I'm in. Need to do worse than defend my second-place finish.
We are set.
Stay tuned for drafting instructions and order (random number generator).
I will take the last pick.
This is most exciting, kudos to Stock for his dedication...
