Title: New (to forum) in St. Louis
Post by: jakethegreat on 01/31/08, 10:14:38 PM
I am NOT new to RBI, however! I have been playing forever. Me and my friend have been playing eachother for years, but I have never been able to find anyone else who plays or is as good as either of us. The way it stands right now, I am the best player I know. No one can touch me. Between strategy, knowing about each player, and just how the game tends to operate, I can beat or at least tread water with probably anyone.

National League is my favorite team because they are diverse. This is my breakdown of the game.

The Best Teams (Group 1)
Boston - They are only in this group if you put in certain bench players (which I always do). Armas bats in the 1 hole. Burks bats in the 2 hole. Henderson bats in the 8th hole. This lineup is even better than the All Star team's...Best pitching in the game. Clemens, best SP. Hurst, best #2 in game.

NL - Guerrero bats 2nd. Gwynn or Kruk bats 8th. I usually sub Kruk or Gwynn in later in the game for Gallaraga. Dale Murphy always hits a homerun, therefore, i think he's the best pinch hitter in the game. NEVER put him in the starting lineup. I LOVE NL's pitching staff!! Start Sutcliff. He can actually go 5 innings easy. Then put in the closer/side arm, Bedrsn, to shut down your opponents heart of the order in the middle innings. They will have no momentum going into the late innings. Then Franco, then, close it out with Fernando Valenzuela. You can't hit him, because you don't have to conserve him. Throw fast with him, slow with him. Your opponent won't get a hit. They are my favorite team.

AL - J. Key (Key to Success) is actually overrated. Anyone who bats leadoff will suck. I don't play with this team much.

Really Good Teams (Group 2)
Detroit - Starters lack consistent longevity. Alexander has lasted to the 7th once, but usually not what I like out of an ace. Sub Madlock in at 5 spot. Sheridan is awesome, a complete hitter (he hits oppo HR's!!), but not as powerful as Dale Murphy.
California - best 2,3,4 combo in the game. Take the advice from this web site...put Wilfong in 1 spot. Witt is the man, but having all righties really sucks. Hence, Cali in the 2nd group.
New York - Tuefel to the 8 spot. Gooden is one of the best pitchers in the game. Diverse staff. Fun to pitch with. Ojeda is the perfect complement to Gooden. He gives the batter a completely different look. Howard Johnson is awesome off the bench in clutch situations.
San Francisco - this would be a great team to play with if only there was one LHP. great lineup. Defintely put Spilman in 1 spot.

The Bottomfeaders (Group 3)
Minnesota - underachieving. What else can I say?
Saint Louis - I have been beaten by this team on several occasions. They can be sneaky. Watch out for Lindemann batting 7th.
Houston

Best hitters: Reggie Jackson and/or Don Mattingly
Best Pitchers: Roger Clemens, Dwight Gooden, probably Nolan Ryan
Best Pitchers (Group 2): Witt, Hurst, Viola, Tudor, Cox, Saberhagen, Sutcliff, Valenzuela

It's too bad you're not from Colorado.

come on.  Sndbrg is the secret weapon for the NL.  That pornstache of his (from '87 only) puts that team over the top.

I use him not all the time as closer. You have to go long enough with Sutcliff, which might not be easy if you are not used to using him. Then the reason I use Valenzuela as closer is partly b/c I love using Bedrsn so much in the middle innings. Bedrsn shuts down any hint of a rally from the 3,4,5,and 6 hitters on the other team's lineup. It's pretty much a beautiful thing.

I'm a crazy cock sucking unoriginal homo.  I can't possibly understand things like jokes or sarcasm because I'm too wrapped up in talking shit about another team instead of just supporting my alleged favorite team.

And just so you know, I was only asked to contribute 15% of Soriano's contract so don't lay all the blame on me.

Seriously, take it easy and enjoy life.

Let's get one thing strait. I don't care what you try and make me out to be. Cause in the end you are just contributing in all the disses, just like me, but in a different way. I am not a bad guy, even tho you try ti make me out to be. You don't know me, biatch. ha ha. The only thing I know is that you are a Cubs fan and I like the Cardinals. I was probably drunk. To be honest I don't remember. But it's chillen maaan.

Attacks getting personal... Im sorry I made you upset by talking about your beloved Cubs. You know, I really think they are good. There are a lot of good players on their roster. Some guys I wish the Cards had on their roster. But the Cards have kind of fallen back in the NL Central in terms of talent. Except for a prospect, currently ranked as high as #2 on Project Prospect's list of ALL minor leaguers - his name is Colby Rasmus - the talent in our organization is relatively scarce, and it will be expensive if it's going to be from the free agent pool... anyways, by having a good team in the division, it is the pace setter and should be the model for its competetors.

Ryno, what do you think of my breakdown of RBI Baseball? Do you agree with anything I said?? You don't actually like Sandberg in the game, do you???
