Putting some feelers out for 9 other owners. Probably waiting till stocks season is over to not get things too busy around here.
Looking to revamp the RBI cart with new teams to give my friends and I some variety when playing RBI. Have each owner draft thier squad with the premise of playing-1 starting pitcher/best of 3 series play/anything goes.
No priority would be put on player position(infield/outfield), just pitchers (2 starters/2relievers) and your other 12 batters. Once the draft is complete have each owner create a line-up. Im thinking some stipulations would come into play about players with 900+ power and coming off the bench. I'll cover that later.
Most likely a snake draft order. I dont know all the error rate figures, but i think that would also be an draftable option making the draft 17 rounds (16 players and an error rate).
from there once the teams are drafted and line-ups are created I can take this and rom it, then get it onto a cart.
Back to the bench players...perhaps a figure like 900 to 920 power would be the range that 1 player (per team) is allowed to come off the bench. means that not all the big bombers fall into that category. go a little lower and allow 1 player to come off the bench (per team)with a power range of 850 to 880. It doesnt include all the power guys, but it at least mixes things up a bit from team to team in terms of line-up possibilities.
Any tenative takers for this?
i'm in.
I may be given if the draft times/dates fits into my ridiculous schedule.
BTW.. don't feel like you need to wait for my season to be over with.
It will not be done anytime soon. Plus, your rules for drafting, line-ups, and gameplay are so different that it really will be two entirely different ideas.
I'm in.
I'm in. I am also thinking about reviving the original fantasy league and pick up where Fighton left off from.
I'm a tentative taker.
That's not what I hear.
theres 5 of us.....5 more peoples and we'll make it happen capn.
I would probably do it, though I'm a little bit confused by it. I assume you won't be running any sort of watch league, it's just to try to make 10 somewhat comparable teams with a different mix of players.
YES! You draft, then use the guidlines to create a line-up. After that im done with the others participation and can make a cart for my friends(all 2 of them) and I.
Here is Attezz's team.
Ray Shalk
George Sisler
Eddie Collins
John McGraw
Bert Campaneris
Rickey Henderson
Lou Brock
Billy Hamilton
Tony Mullane
Win Mercer
Matt Kilroy
Scott Stratton
If you add a few pitchers, that'd be money.
You forgot Nick Punto.

Don't you only get 4 pitchers in RBI?
Bumpst. lets go peoples!
So you are drafting from the original RBI cart?
I would be in to draft for sure... I'd even help with that if you wanted. As for playing our teams... I haven't been able to get the online vs. mode going yet.

Yes....players from all 10 teams. 1 starting pitcher/best of 3 in mind anything goes style is whats on tap here.

no playing, just drafting. I just want the cart for my
recreational personal use. Id guess if someone wants to do a fantasy league with the rosters thats fine too. Your new so i'll say it right now that you would need to be able to post from work/check in a couple times a day to keep up with the days it moves fast.
I'm checking in at work right now ^-^
to enter the draft you'll also need to pass along home phone #, SSN, and post some noodz. And by post some noodz i mean deliver privately to my inbox.

No pun intended, right? HIYO!!!!
nope, i just wanted to post something that came across as overtly homosexual.
guess i missed the damn mark.
i didnt specify male or female so yes, i did miss the mark.
What determines which team we draft for??
Dibs on Saint Louis!!!
i think you'll get to decide your own name, like possibly the "st. louis turdmunchers"
Maybe even something like "I Love Poo-Holes"
Bump
Let's get some participation in here! I think we're a couple owners short for the draft!
Can we get an update on how many more drafters are required?
Three more people needed (?)

me too
10 of us and we draft teams. thats all i need. no fantasy league or anything afterwards.
the game play would be for ATG-best of 3 or 5 series. 1 starting pitcher. use all the players from the nes RBI.
You draft accordingly to create your team however you see fit...great pitching, heavy hitting bats, or a mix of both. From there i take the info and make a cart for me and some fiends.
used some poker chips to randomly guide the directions of the draft for each team (power, pitching, power and speed)and did 6 rounds. had a couple fuck ups as guys like mcgwire and Witt got overlooked and were thrown into the mix midway as a couple gifts for 2 teams. each team has 2 pitchers and 4 batters at the moment.
Team 1
Tudor/M Scott
Gibson, C Davis, Rice, Downing
Team 2
Krukow/Witt
Murphy, Bruno, J. Clark, W. Clark
Team 3
Viola/Clemens
Dawson, Shmidt, Hendersen, Hernandez
Team 4
Blyleven/Morris
Jackson, Brookens, Hrbek, Joyner
Team 5
Key/Ryan
R Jones, J Leonard, Lemon, Mattingly
Team 6
Gooden/Sutton
Canseco, Armas, Coleman, Hatcher
Team 7
Saberhagen/Ojeda
Evans, Trammel, Sheridan, Carter
Team 8
Reuschel/Valenzuela
Raines, Dewey Evans, Decinces, Dykstra
Team 9
Alexander/Cox
Baylor, Burks, Mcgwire, Lopes
Team 10
Sutcliffe/Hurst
E Davis, Bell, Gaetti, O Smith
I tried to pair a righty/lefty together on the mound when aplicable.
since the chip with power/speed called for a fast guy, there were a few reaches. Evident by the teams with Raines who was the 1st batter drafted on that team and Trammel drafted after Darell Evans.
whoa, wait, what did you just do?
I was just curious to see how some teams would shape up so i did a little draft for the hell of it.
Thinking about retooling this draft. I could put more parameters on it randomly.
Some teams would have a slant towards getting lefty batters (within reason-take a guy 10 points lower to get a lefty). Another team would sacrifice 10 power points to get a guy a little faster.
Some teams would want a L/R combo on the mound and others would take the best pitcher available.
And i like the way the couple fuck ups panned out with overloking Mcgwire/Witt until rounds 4 & 6. Might randomly incorporate that as well.
there's no reason for hatcher, osmith, or dykstra to go that early. even with the speed they have, it doesn't make them important enough in human vs. human atg rbi. lopes is a reach, but a litle more understandable.
also, are you drafting positions or fielding at any level (if/of, catcher)?

when the speed chip came up there wasnt anyone worth taking a look at besides those guys. in ATG human play those guys can be a force if they get on base. hard to force em out as well and after a couple innings they can steal on a pitcher.
not drafting positions, just batters.
No idea whats going on.
HA! this whole thread is ruse designed to up my post count. fuck all of you!
so are we drafting, or?

Yeah, we can do it during the superbowl... ::)
shut your fucking mouth
if we had a full commited 10 we would do it. in the meantime to appease my unholy desires i will continue to make multiple mock drafts.
i been thinking about TBGs statement, and i really disagree.
in 1 SP play fast guys play a fairly key role in that game compared to 2SP. in 1SP to conserve pitches those are the clowns you want to get out in 1 or 2 pitches, so they see way more hittable stuff than the bombers and the guys who are medicre with the power. not saying its str8 pitch to those guys, but they are a neccesary tool for both sides.
i'm giving a little bit more credence to your speed picks now that you explained the pitching a bit more. but i'm still skeptical. especially of hatcher. i'll have to look at the data if i have a minute.
with your chip method, did you make the 4th or 5th round or whatever the round that every team had to pick a speed guy?
In 1SP ive had good luck with dykstra and mookie just cause they will see the best pitches. carter and straw will not.

Nope, it all came out randomly in 5th and 6th round.. there was a seperate chip for power/speed combo(if aplicable). so once the guys like chili davis, gibson, raines, trammel were gone it was executive decision to take a guy with around 865 power and 130 speed(simlar to sheridan which at this point isnt bad speed), or just say fuck it and go after a 142+ guy.
Also, at this point in the draft those mediocre 240-265 type guys are plentiful and will last a few more rounds, but getting a 144+ speedster at the top of the line up is something to get after at this point.
my recommendations:
replace:
hatcher with pucket
ozzie with coleman
dykstra with mcgee
