and maxed out all of their stats...then played them? Im going to try it right now. ;D
Cool, I'd like to hear how fast a fast ball you can pitch and hear how far the ball goes and how fast they can run.
I am going to play against the edited team!
can you please post the edited ROM so us lazy folk can try it, too?
You don't want to max out those power numbers, that ball will never come down....
Will the NES explode?

IIRC, everything just sails for a very long time when hit in the air. Most take a long time to come down, making the game most unfun. But worth a shot...
I do recall if you edit a pitcher's pitch speed down to really, really low values (especially if you do it with any kind of curve at all), the ball actually wraps around the screen several times on the way to the plate. Also takes a looong time to get there, of course.

You are quite right, Dryden. I was jerking around one night with a ROM i've since delted (d'oh!) and tweaked a team to suck worse than the Devil Rays. Not only do pitches wrap, sometimes they go BACKWARDS. If it goes off-screen benind the pitcher, it's a ball (if you didn't swing, of course...) And also be careful with hitting attributes. I had one player foul-tip the ball so funky, it not only wasn't considered foul, but it scrolled off-screen to the point I couldn't get it. Combine that with the 1 speed rating, it took twenty minutes for the sonvabytch to inside-the-park on me. Oh, the fun of being stupid with ROMs, emus, and editors... ;D
(Sorry for the XL-long BS post... ;) )
Extreme Results:
Running Speed = 255 (max)
Very fast, much faster than fielders running to bases. I don't think there is any way you could ground out, not quite fast enough to steal home (the catcher will beat you to the plate)
Running Speed = 1 (min)
Guy doesn't leave the batters box, if you don't hit it out of the park you are out.
Power = 2000 (The largest power rating in NES is 954)
If you make good contact you will hit a HR. Hit many so far that the guy made it all the way around the bases before the ball landed.
Pitching speed, Max (255 I think)
Pitches go up to 120 MPH
Min Pitching Speed with No endurance:
At first pitches are around 9 MPH and you can curve around the screen many times (pretty cool). The CPU batter will often swing way before the ball gets to the plate. As pitcher tires, pitches will get all the way down to 1 MPH, and then I guess they start going backwards. Had a pitch just zooming back and forth across the screen (apparently backwards) which registered at 158 MPH.
Do you still have the ROM for that or did you get rid of it?
On Nightwulf's editor LOAD file named ULT7ARC, I edited the Cubs. Team Initials changed to GL.
Sandberg and Santo have super speed
Caveretta has 0 or 1 speed
The guys with 99 HRs have super power
Sutcliffe has super fast Fast Ball
Jenkins has slow regular pitch
I don't see it on there, did you make it so that everyone can see it? Maybe I am missing something.
I thought I made it public, in any case I'll try attaching it here and see if it works
Awesome. Thanks a bunch.
Crap, I just played against this team for the 1st time and actually lost, I guess I need to pitch around the big boppers. Also tough to hit 121 MPH pitches, especially when the normal pitches are still coming in at 80 MPH.
Some more weird occurrences:
I made Caveretta 0 speed 0 power (or really low) and 0 contact.
On outside pitches he will seem to rocket them foul into the stands. (They get out of play faster than the screen can move.) And one time the ball out of play was called fair and I couldn't get to it. After 2 minutes Phil was still less than halfway to 1B so I had to reset the game.
Jenkins has one of his pitches very slow and very low endurance, so after he had pitched 2 innings he was out of gas, all of a sudden he was throwing 117 MPH pitches. His speed must have bottomed out and got reset to top speed or something weird.
