Three handsome men:
Racktacular
Potsie
Sperling
Fight for two positions in the 2008 RBI Championship. It's a round robin where everyone plays each opponent three times. Lips and I, by virtue of making the finals last year, are already qualified.
The fun starts at 7pm
BREAKING NEWS!!!
Lips picked up Sperling at the train station and they are on their way to get Taco Bell and 54 Miller Lite bottles.
Stay tuned to dee-nee.com for up to the minute updates...s
I'm supposed to go out with Chubbs later tonight but it might be falling through. Perhaps he'd be up for some drinking RBI. You gentlemen have inspired me.
Make it happen mclane! If it does, I demand update...
UPDATE - I just beat the computer 23-2 and Lips/Sperling showed up with 72 beers. Gonna be a LOOOOONG night
Game #1 is up:
Sperling (Ca) vs Potsie (Dt)
It's currently 16-14 Detroit at the end of the 6th inning. Both guys are well into their 3rd beer, and keep in mind that everyone plays 6 games. This game has seen both a grand slam by AT and Sperling taking a 10drink strikeout with DeCinces to hit a 3 run dinger with Joyner. The beer consumption in game #1 is off the charts
THIS IS WHY WE PLAY THE GAMES!!!
Game #1 is in the books:
Potsie (Dt) - 24, 13 HRs
Sperling (Ca) 21, 14 HRs
Sperling had the tying man up at the plate in the 9th and couldn't capitalize. 42 Nintendo minutes and I think 9 beers consumed. A truly epic battle...
Good game with Potsie! He kept getting singles and knocking those guys in with HRs. Well played game. We ended up drinking way too much and this could pose a problem in later games. I am posting now for that reason...you may not see too much of me later.
Game 2 I have pick - Detroit.
Potsie is carving a path to the championship:
Potsie (Dt) - 17, 15 HRs
Jason (Bo) - 13, 9 HRs
Rack was struggling offensively, the rust was showing. Huge game between the winless teams next.
Jesus, what a terrible game:
Jason (Dt) - 15, 11 HRs
Sperling (Ca) - 7, 6 HRs
That's with 6 runs in the bottom of the 8th by Jason, a truly brutal game. Potsie and Sperling up next.
Standing
Potsie 2-0
Jason 1-1
Sperling 0-2
This is Rack:
I would like to thank Guillermo for pitching 3 shutout innings to end the game and then come up with a huge single in the bottom of the 8th which led to an Armas single and a Burks 3 run homer.
Rack again:
Potsie (5) vs. Sperling (0) in the top of the 3rd after Potsie goes yard with Buckner!
Rack again:
Potsie (Bos) just slaughtered Sperling (Det) 13-2 in 6 innings. Men on 1st and 2nd and Sheridan up. Potsie subs Clemens out for Hurst. Sperling counters with subbing Mad Dog in. 2 pitchers later Mad Dog grounds into a double play to end the game.
Potsie: 13, 22 HR's
Sperling: 2, 2 HR's
STANDINGS
Potsie (3-0)
Jason (1-1)
Sperling (0-3)
Jason vs. Potsie up next.
Potsie has officially qualified. He took out Jason in pretty convincing fashion, upping his record to (4-0).
Potsie: 16, 12 HR's
Jason: 9, 8 HR's
STANDINGS
Potsie (4-0)
Jason (1-2)
Sperling (0-3)
The final spot is up for grabs. Sperling is up against Jason right now.
There are still three more games scheduled after their game, with each series "leader" getting choice of team for the Game 3's.
Sperling 22, 10 HR's
Jason 19, 16 HR's
Potsie (4-0)
Jason (1-3)
Sperling (1-3)
What's the beer count?
Rack again:
That game totally sucked. Most amazing display of left hitting against Hurst I've ever seen. Let me set the scene: 7th inning. Score 14 (?) Bos, 5 Det. Hitter: Gibson. I sun Hurst for Clemens for the lefties. Sperling counters with 10 singles in a row. Yup 10. AT popped out. Then Gibby cracks a grand slam. Bottom line: Hurst gave up 16 runs in 2 innings and another grand slam in the 8th after about 5 singles in a row. Never seen it before. Probably will never see it again. While Sperlings victory was earned and well deserved, I got screwed. Either way, both Sperling and myself don't deserve to make it to the final tournament. We both completely suck.
Potsie is automatically in the finals and pretty drunk so he isn't really trying/doing too well against Sperling right now. Potsie (Det) 5, Sperling (Cali) 6, top of 6.

Didn't happen, chubbs works on the other side of town and didn't get off until just now. The wheels are in motion for tomorrow night though. We're at least playing a 3 game series, I'm jonesing for some RBI right now.
Potsie is totally throwing the game. He is horrible. Scored 8 runs in 8 innings with Detroit. I demand him to play the same way against me. We'll see.
Sperling eeks out a win:
Sperling (Ca) - 10, 5 HRs
Potsie (Dt) - 9, 7 HRs
I held Potsie to his worst offensive display. I'll take it. He doesn't look very good right now. I'll take the win over him and the win over VitB6. 2-3 makes this day worthwhile. I was definitely dealt a pretty crappy hand by not having pick for the first two games.
Pots and Rack up now. A win by Pots gives him a 5-1 record. Not too shabby.
A win by Rack gives him and I a 2-3 record. Thus we have a deciding game to the 3rd win. If he loses he needs to win to give him a 2-4 record and me a 2-4 record. If I beat him it will disqualify him. The pressure definitely is on him, but he can make these qualifiers worthwhile.
Dee-Nee!
WOW!!!
Potsie won in a walkoff
Potsie (Dt) 14 - 9 HRs
Jason (Bo) 12 - 7 Hrs
Unbelievable! Jason and Sperling up for the faceoff
The standings:
Potsie 5-1
Sperling 2-3
Jason 1-4
Rach here:
I had to beat Sperling to force a tie breaker. A win by Sperling and he goes to the main tourney.
Game 1: Rack (Det) slaughters Sperling (Cali) 13-3 in 4 innings, to force a 1 game tie breaker.
Rack has first choice of team and chooses Detroit.
Final game: Game is back and forth. Rack is up by 9 in the bottom of the 5th and goes for the slaughter by subbing out Alexander for Heathbar with a man on first. Ground out to 2nd. Dah-Nah. Sperling fights back with 11 runs in the next 2 innings to take a 2 run lead. Rack has no choice but to sub out Guillermo for King for the last 3 innings. Rack hits a few HR's and take a 4 run lead going into the top of the 9th. Joyner singles. Potatoes is up. Grounds out into a DP. Downing then flies out to LF to end the game.
Rack moves on to the main tourney although I admit I completely sucked and don't deserve to play. I just got lucky that 1 person was rustier than me.
