How many of you guys have played the Atari version of rbi. My brother bought it about 3 months ago and we have been playing it frequently. It is a lot harder than the nintendo to hit and the computer can be challenging also if u r a newbie. I just want to hear who has been playing and what they think.

By atari, you do mean the arcade version right? We do have it and don't play it nearly as much as the NES version. I do like it, but the no error thing is a bit annoying (especially with straight pitch). The Yankees are the shit though...
We also have the Japanese version (Family Stadium 87) but haven't played it because I haven't purchased the adapter to play Japanese NES games on the American NES...
The Atari version is pretty sweet with the old timers, tough adjustment to make from the NES, Houston is even worse than they are on the NES, I think the guy who made the R.B.I. games must have been a Houston fan cause they do not belong(at least not in the Atari version) The Yankees are ridiculous.
I like the colored fans, excpecially the little group of opposing colored fans that sit on the first base side, they probably talk shit to the visiting team.
I miss the occasional error, although once I saw the ball go over the computers head while he was camped under it.
We usually play the NES cause everyone prefers to sit and play, plus some of us have some wide shoulders and it's hard to fit both people in.
But I gotta say it's all about Joe Adcock.... He hit's Bombs
The fans are a nice touch and it is a good change of pace. For my money though, I'll take the NES version....
I'm a big fan of Johnny Bench, best catcher in either version of RBI....
Definitely agree with what you say about Houston, and if you haven't seen, check out my writeup on them. I was too insulted to even go player-by-player:

My favorite team in the atari is the S.F. Giants. I like Bill Terry. He used to be good but lately he been really bad. They have some good power and a couple pitchers with a good curve. Their power definetely cant match the yankee's but for some reason i dont play good with them. I also like Atlanta a lot. Adcock is good. I hit 4 with him against my brother (in a curve game). Their pitching is good too. Niekro ball moves like 10 feet.
The Giants are my firm #2 team after the Yanks, Willie McCovey is tremendous. Potsie and Lips use Oakland, while Sperling plays a very strong Boston....
I've only used the Braves a couple of times, way too many righties for my taste....
And by the way guys, if you want to give your writeup for any of the Atari teams we haven't done, go right ahead. You've obviously played it quite a bit and getting writeups for the remaining teams (Dodgers, Oakland, Boston, and Atlanta) ins't high on my list.
You'd get full credit and you can just write it up in the message board and I'll convert it to html. If you don't want to, that's cool, but I thought I'd throw it out there...
Yeah we'll get to work on those writups for the remaining teams, your other team writeups are great! We'll try to keep up the high standard.
Fantastic!! Much obliged...
