Title: Selling my RBI Machine
Post by: Guido13 on 08/14/08, 03:34:34 PM
Hey guys,

I'm in the Milwaukee area and I have a VS. RBI arcade machine that I think I have to part with  :'(  :'(  :'(

I need it out of my basement, just had my first child and need the room for all sorts of crap to be move around.

I can take pictures and what not, I'd like to sell it locally, to someone who will appreciate it and will do so at a fair price.

Based on interest I will continue with the process, if noone wants it I'll keep it for awhile longer.

Sad day.

How much are we talking?  I live in Madison and  I have a truck so picking it up wouldn't be difficult for me.

Congrats on the kid.  Try naming it Reggie Jackson ______(Bastardo?) to help ease the pain!

This is where Shooty sweeps in at the last second and wins the auction, nailing another arcade hide to his wall.

K, since some decent interest I'll take some pictures tomorrow morning and do a quick review on it's condition... ...it's pretty solid. It's got Golf on the other side... ...all the controls work and there is very limited burn in on either monitor.

I'm off Todd Dr.  This is crazy, nobody has seen this machine yet or knows how much he is selling for.  Is this one of those cocktail arade games I played years ago?  I thought they had one player on one side and one on the other but it sounds like RBI is on one side and golf on the other?  What kind of golf?  I'm e-mailing my friend to see if he wants to do a Milwaukee run as we speak.

I'd assume it's one like Gantry has (as you said, RBI on one side and Golf on the other):

perhaps you should try ebay.  I"m mere minutes from picking this sucker up.  Lurker?  I've had a few posts and have been aware of this site for some time.  I would agree with newbie or something but certainly not lurker.   ;)

Somehow I don't think the sale of this machine is based on who's the closest to the seller.

Proximity means nothing.  Its all price.

Its about pick up and proximity means nothing to the man with the machine.  ALl he has to do is accept payment and open up his garage or home or whatever to someone picking it up.

I've mentioned proximity, but I wasn't the one to make it a priority, the seller did that.

He might also slightly favor selling to a Brewers season ticket holder...

Good point about the seller mentioning it and not you.  My bad.

Brewer ticket holder...that's tough to beat.

What's a Marylander?  I live in WI.

Yes, Brookens does rule, at least he does when I play as Detroit.

I was a partial season ticket holder through college and the first three Miller Park seasons, finally had the funds to pull the trigger on the full season since then... ...shitty seats, upstairs, but we've worked the seats to nearly behind home plate atleast.

I actually liked the American League and was kinda pissed Selig decided he was God and dicked around with the alignment.

I love me my baseball.

My buddy has some season tickets in the first few rows in left field (right where the line meets the stands) and I couldn't believe how close we were to the sausages.  When they came out I looked at him and said "If I get on the rail and do a flying tackle on one of the sausages, will you pay my bail"?  He thought about it too long and they got out of range.

Next time...  I think I could actually get on ESPN with that kind of shennanigan.

I'm fat (but pretty fast) and when I told that to one of my friends they said "You should jump on the field and chase them with a hot dog bun and a bottle of ketchup".  This may happen if he takes me to another game down there.

based off what little i have read, it is the exact same as Vs. Golf, but with the sprites changed to be female.  It MAY incorporate different courses or hitting distances, but i don't think so.  i saw the board for it on ebay once, but I didn't bid...that's a shame.

I said I liked the American League, not really the DH, the DH is what it is... ...I just liked the old AL East rivals... ...the Brewers/White Sox rivalry was always great too.

Now we have to deal with the Cubs and Cards, puke.

Title: Re: Selling my RBI Machine
Post by: Guido13 on 08/19/08, 11:47:38 AM
Upon cleaning up the machine on the surface, it's looking alot sharper... ...here are some current things to note... ...1 and 2 player buttons are missing but working, I think the buttons are rolling around the basement and can be cemented back in, or easily replaced... ...coin slot #1 was rigged before I bought the machine, along with the coin box on the RBI side, drilled out, doesn't effect game play... ...on the golf side all of the buttons are fine including the coin stuff, but when I turned it on it seems as though the golf sides monitor is on the fritz, I'm going to try to fix that as well... ...we really only play RBI on this thing, I hadn't looked at that golf setup in years.

I will take pictures of it cleaned up and when I get everything working I will ebay it, don't want to sell something not up to speed.

Why would you put it on EBay if there is enough interest on here?
You could avoid the fees by just selling it yourself.  I would just start the bidding at the lowest reasonable price you are willing to sell it for, and just let people outbid eachother on a first come basis.

I would agree.  Your biggest bidders will be RBI fans in the area.  And all of them are on this site.

These Nintendo sit down jobs aren't the greatest of sellers anyway.  Why let ebay take 8% or whatever?  You can go to any number of Arcade type sites and get a value estimate of the game and just price it at that or let the couple of Dee-Neers bid on it over a couple of days.  You'll come out further ahead most likely and ensure that one of our own get it.

Start the bidding at $200 or something and put the bid increments at $25.  Have people bid and whoever has the last bid in without someone beating it (allow 12 hour windows) sell it to them.

10-4, let me put the thing together and sort out the golf side issues... ...then I gotta get it out of the basement into the garage... ...this is quite the process but I'm enjoying it.

I only paid $150 for it, so whatever parts I buy to refurb it added to that would be the starting bid.

I'll  keep you guys posted.

You might have Attezz... ...it was up in Green Bay... ...no worries, I'm dedicated to it going to a proper home, so I'll dee-nee it, just thought the ebay thing would've been an easy way to auction it.

My main concern is that I don't want to sell the thing to someone and then have the thing explode on them two weeks later.

I didn't think it was going to live through the trip in the 1989 Chevy Cavalier station wagon from Green Bay to Milwaukee, remarkable it turned on when I got it home.
