Title: RBI Birthday - Kevin Bass turns 45
Post by: Gantry on 05/13/04, 09:02:19 AM
It was yesterday, but better late than never.  Discuss the statistical wunderkid Kevin Bass.  Has anyone actually learned to be effective with this guy?

I don't hate him as much as I used to, but I still don't get much production out of him.   He has all the makings of a great hitter - lefty, fast and (on the surface) good power.  But it just doesn't translate...

I swear I remember a time when I used to hit well with Bass (years ago).  But nowadays, I always seem to struggle with him.

If you yell "Kick his ass, K-Bass!" when he comes to the plate it helps out a little bit.  I kind of like hitting with Bass.  He's similar to Willie McGee in my opinion.  Neither one is great but both have speed and a little pop which looks good in an otherwise shitty lineup.

Willie McGee is a very good call, they do have similar production.  I think I get more power out of McGee, but maybe not...

I always yell insults and verbally abuse Bass when he bats, perhaps I should change my technique...

KBass has always played well for me...nothing great but definitely one of the better Houston hitters (that's not saying much).  I also agree that he's a lot like Willard McGee.

He is a lot like ET but his numbers are better, which should yield better performance.  I prefer Willie over Bass any day, simply because Willie is the fucking man and he's a Cardinal.

I think the key to Bass is going the opposite way.  While his numbers warrant power, I think the best strategy is to completely ignore that shit.
