Title: A Call to Arms
Post by: JoeDirt on 05/17/04, 04:41:10 PM
Okay, as most of you probably already know, there is going to be a huge, blow-out RBI tourament (curve) in Chicago in late June (weekend of 25th).

There are only a few spots left and not many forum members are signed up.  I cannot tell you how shocked we are about this fact--where are the hardcore RBIers????

Please seriously consider signing up...even if you are used to playing straight or slurve--there is plenty of time to adjust to curve.  Even if you live out of state, there is cheap airfare out there...at least look into it.

It is not often that so many hardcore RBI players will be gathered in the same town--it'd be an absolute shame for you to miss it.

It's only $50--but don't look at it as an investment, or else you'll never get in the game.  I literally have to win the tourney in order to make money on the weekend--I'll even lose a bit if I finish 2nd...!!

Airfare is very cheap these days (especially to Chicago), so please at the very least, look into it.  Goto www.iflyswa.com for some great rates to/from Chicago.

McLane--you and Chubbs need to do whatever it is you need to do to be there.

Same goes for you, Baines, Marquis, GDavis, ericdavisfan, Beef, nightwulf, CurtFlood, sucka, Dryden, Tyrone, BDawk, Briz, erhajj, japetus, Reggie, Pito, GreatScott, the entire cast of the original dee-nee squad (Gantry, Lips, etc)...and all you other bops that I cannot think of off the top of my head.

Dove RBI gets an exemption--but only because he is out of the country.

Please private message me if you have any questions...

Here's the official tourney link:

Seriously, REPRESENT!!!!!!!!    ;)

We're only looking for 3 more players.  JoeDirt is right... this is the most competitive tournament out there and nowhere else can you find such diehard RBI fanatics.

Men I salute you.  On that day I will drink with you from across the Atlantic.  Dee-Nee to you and Olde Style.  Drink up.

JoeDirt, I will look into it.  I already have a Vegas trip planned for August but I'll look nonetheless.  Three days in Chicago getting my ass beat in curve RBI?  Sounds like good times to me.  I'll do what I can but that is by no means a guarantee.

I can't believe JoeDirt called me and the Chubbrock out!  :o

I will be there, but in a viewing capacity.  If you guys are really short, I would love to play.  But I am not putting up $50 to get my ass kicked in curve.   That may sound cheap, but I have a mortgage and car payment to take care of.  If I thought I had any chance of winning, I would glady put up some cash...

I'd be more than willing to join as an amateur with no money involved.  But hopefully the three spots should fill up by tourney time...

I actually feel the same way as Gantry.  I feel if I put in 50, it would be a waste.  I'm more interested in going just to meet everyone and enjoy some RBI.

Rates aren't too ridiculous.  Gotta convince the wife now.  And come up with some extra cash.

Just do as Freedman did last COTUT... make it a vacation and bring the family along.

ATA (www.ata.com), in addition to SWA (www.southwest.com), has low airfare.  Online deals are excellent for these two airlines.
