Title: Dee-Nee house games for 5/18/2004
Post by: Gantry on 05/18/04, 06:36:34 PM
Pots and I are going at it on Potatoes bday.  Tourney preparation, game one:

Gantry CA - 19, 14 HRs
Potsie DT - 17, 16 HRs

Most ugly game, I score 10 in the first and it was 18-15 after 5 innings.  Potatoes goes 3-5 with 2 dingers, expect a little more for his birthday.  Must be drunk...

After reading this thread, Lipitz comes right over from work.  And it pays off:

Lipitz BO - 14, 13HRs
Gantry DET - 13, 7 HRs

Pretty ugly game.  Lips accidentially brings in Sullivan for Barrett and he goes 0-5.  Still pulls the win over the weak-swinging Gantry...

Potsie and Lips up next...

What a game!

Lipitz BO - 15, 11 HRs
Pots CA - 14, 10 HRs

Walk-off homer by Don Baylor, three run blast.  Lipitz hit about 100 foul balls that game, irking Potsie.  Time to redeem...

Dah-Nah!!

The BoSox train has derailed.  Oh well, it was an overall good day for me...considering I haven't played in awhile.  Well, the last game was nuts of course.  Typical style between Gantry and I.  Gantry had me on the ropes for like 3 innings.  I was down by like 10, then 9, then 12 or so...in the mid-innings.  But I came back late...and hit 2 homers and 4 runs in the bottom of the ninth to tie the game.  And then came my pivotal decision.  I was in the bottom of the inning tied, and I had Hendu batting in the 8th spot.  He sucked all day, along with all my other subs - I just couldn't do anything with my subs today.  I'll need to improve my sub-play for the tourney.  Anyways, what do I do?  Having a feeling, I sub Sullivan in...who I just voted for the worst sub in RBI.  I went do or die with Ol' Sully.  And of course...he did nothing.  Gantry and I went to the tenth, and I lost 28-24.

Sully finished a sweet 0-7 today.  STUD!!!!

Gantry (Ca) 28, 24 HRs
Lips (BoSox) 24, 17 HRs

Oh yeah...
I subbed Sully in with two outs in the ninth, with two strikes.

Chubbs and I gotta try some straight pitch one of these nights.
And some curve, especially if I can convince my wife to let me fly to Chicago.  ;)
