Well, Baines (Matt) and Spike Owen #1 (jason) made it over to my house. After barbecue and plenty of talk, we popped in RBI. This thread is dedicated to the unification of dee nee members across the continent. DEE NEE!!!!
As far as we know, we think this is the first interstate RBI/dee-nee games played. We are extremely proud we have gotten together to share in the glory of RBI.
So here's the deal. Me and Chubbs play slurve and Baines and Spikey play straight pitch. After thinking about flipping a coin over pitching methods, we decided straight pitch was the method of the night, since everyone can easily adapt.
Baines (Matt) and I (Mark) had the pleasure of playing the first series. We did the whole thing in straight pitch.
This was a fantastic time, as Matt and Jason are cool as fuck and this was a trip well worth it. Chubbs finally showed up, and with my brother in the mix, we've all had a great time. This is only after the first series and hopefully, we're just getting warmed up.
Anyway, scores from the inaugaral Baines vs fknMclane series.
Game 1: Mclane CA 10
Baines SL 5
Mc-5Hr
Ba-4Hr
Game 2: McLane SF 5Hr
Baines Mn 7Hr
Mc-5Hr
Ba-5Hr
-Gary Gaetti, walkoff 3run homer (total fuckin' dagger)
Game 3: McLane Na 19
Baines Am 15
Mc-9Hr
Ba-8Hr
All these games were straight pitch and we will not play any slurve. As of right now, Chubbs and Spike are playing a straight pitch series. More updates to come. More dee nee unifications are extremely necessary. This is not negotiable.
DEE NEE MOTHERFUCKERS!!!!
I'm Rich Biatch!!! This is Chubbrock signing in. I have to say, I haven't visited the Dee Nee site in a while, but after tonight.........I'll be a regular again. Much props to Baines and Spike for coming through and playing some "Rib" over here. Good shit. DEE NEE for life. The best way to spend a Sunday is drinking beer, and playing RBI. Mission accomplished.
Update
Chubbrock NA 13
Jason NY 9 (Spike)
Chubbs 4 HR
Jason 3 HR
Solid game all around. My first Straight pitch game. I must say, I'm liking the straight pitch. Considering I had NA, and only won by 4.....it was a hell of a game. (For the record, I started Rick Suckliff......FIRE IN THE HOLE!!! Never trust a redhead.)
Craig (Mclane's Brother) SL 3
Jason DT 15 10HR!!!!!!
Slaughter Rule. Ouch. I can talk shit about Craig because he's not a visitor to this site. Craig, you suck. HAha.....Obviously this was just experience taking over. Spikey gave Craig a beating that was comperable to that one time when that one professional athlete beat his wife. Can't think of his name.............
Jason 13 Bo 9HR
Mclane 3 NY 3HR
Can you believe this shit!! Another slaughter!! It's one thing to get beat in a slaughter match. It's another thing to get slaughtered in your own house. Ouch! Mclane, you got knocked the fuck out in this one!! :)
Spike is on a tear. Funny shit. It's crazy to see that everybody has their own method of subbing' players. For the record, Spike kept Spike Owen in the whole game, and Ellis Burks remained on the bench. Ridiculous.
Matt 10 HO 4 HR
Jason 0 NA 0 HR
Well, I guess the streak had to come to an end at some point. Apparently, Baines and Spike have played a few games against each other before. Looks like Baines currently has the edge. According to Spike, he has beaten Baines in about 4 games in his life. Good shit...:) This, unfortunately was not one of the four games. This was a pure, schalacking. The game lasted 3 innings. Another slaughter rule.
Currently Mclane and Baines are dueling it out. Bottom 7......3-2. This appears to be the longest game in history. :) I think the High Life's are kicking in. It's 1:26 in the AM here in AZ.......to be cont'd.
Well, we kinda got outta track here in the McLane house. Must be the copious amounts of alcohol. Jason left a little while ago but Matt is crasing on the couch. Dee nee!
Here's the newest updates:
Craiger (my brother) Sl 3 0 Hr
Jason (Spike Owen #1) Dt 15 10 Hr
-total fucking beatdown. Not much other way to describe this. Jason is enfuego at this point
Jason (Spike) Bo 13 9 Hr
McLane (fkn) Ny 3 3Hr
-holy fucking beatdown. The sack Mets couldn't do shit and Spike continued his reign over the Phoenic crew. Quite an ugly game. Nothing to remember here
Matt (Baines) 10 Ho 9Hr
Jason (Spike) 0 Na 0 Hr (obviously)
-not pretty
the stuff nightmares are made of
Time to sign off for now and drink some more beer. I'm fucking shitfaced but still going strong, as are Baines and the Chubbrock. DEE NEE MOTHERFUCKERS!!!
Time for the newest update.
Chubbs Bo 8 5Hr
Baines Sf 18 12 Hr
Matt showed Chubbs how it was done in Portsmouth. Chubbs' ass still hurts and probably will for a couple of weeks. Long live Baines.
DEE NEE MOTHERFUCKERS!!!!
The first slurve game of the night...Chubbs and I showed how Baines it's done. Jason already left for the night, hopefully to get some ass.
Anyway, Chubbs and I got a game in.
Chubbs Sl 6 1Hr
McLane Ho 9 2Hr
-this was actually quite a great game. It went down to the wire, with Terry Puhl coming through on his 4th at-bat to win the game. 3-run homer. That was it.
Good times nonetheless. It's 2:30 AM. Chubbs is telling crazy ass stories. It looks like passin out is the theme of the morning.
Best dee nee experience ever. More dee nee road trips must be required. God bless dee nee. I wish I were sober enough to wax philisophical. DEE NEE!!!!!!!
The morning after.
I'm pretty fucking hungover. Too many Budweisers and High Lifes, which were the beer o'clock deadline purchase. Anyway, a great time was had in the McLane house last night.
Just wanna thank Baines (Matt) and Spike Owen (Jason) for coming over and hanging out. We all hit it off and had a great time. I'm actually kinda disappointed I gotta go to Cali tomorrow and we can't hang out again, but ah well.
Good times had by all. Great RBI games played. Dee nee.
I just reread the previous posts for the thread. In my drunken stupor, I reposted the results from three games. Damn, I'm an idiot. Sorry for the mixup, but I'll leave the post there for posterity.
Quality gentlemen, the way Dee-Nee should be done...
I salute you
This is the coolest thread I have ever read...you guys kick ass. Damn I wish people had an excuse to come to Iowa.
When Baines returns from Phoenix I'm sure he'll post a pic of me, him and Jason. For some reason we didn't take one that night when Chubbs was still here.
Good times indeed! I think I'm finally recovered from the 4500 miles we drove in the Phoenix/Charlotte trip.
That night was definitely a major highlight of the trip. Jason and I walked in the door at Mclanes and it was like we had all been hanging out for 20 years. Thanks again for showing us a kick ass time in Phoenix. I'll try do do the same if you're ever in OH.
I should get my pics back later today so I should probably have it up later tonight.
DEE-NEE!!!!
Solid work again, 4500 miles? Christ that must have been brutal...
Yeah, the crazy bastards drove nonstop from Portsmouth to Phoenix and then to Charlotte. The craziest thing was they didn't waste a day in Phoenix. Baines said they were planning on visiting Sedona, the Grand Canyon, and Rocky Point (Mexico) all within a week. That's fucking hardcore vacation.
Awesome Thread. Mclane, phonies and norcal should hook up for some games.
Yeah we definitely went balls to the wall on this one.
Didn't make it to Rocky Point unfortunately (Steph had a party one night that basically wiped out the next day so we had to sacrifice something) but got done pretty much everything else we set out to do. Grand Canyon and Sedona were fucking sweet, also spent a day at Lake Pleasant.
Driving from Phoenix to Charlotte was a bitch though b/c we got a flat in the middle of nowhere in OK at like 1am. Then we couldn't change it because there was no tire tool in the car so we have to call AAA to come out just to give us a tire tool. This takes about 45min but we get the spare on there and head towards Oklahoma City to get a real tire. One would figure that in this day and age on a major interstate in a large metropolitain area you yould get a new tire even if it is late. No such luck. Nobody was open until 7am so we said fuck it, went back out on I-40 and drove at 50mph on the spare until 7am where we found a Super WalMart with a tire center near the OK/AR border. They get the job done in about 5 minutes and proceed to take an hour and 20 minutes to find someone to run the register in the automotive department bringing the entire process to a grand total of nearly 8 hours in which we traveled less than 200 miles. We ended up not arriving in Charlotte until about 11 that night making it 36 straight hours we spent in a car.
I relieved this frustration the next day though by drinking 24 beers at the Nascar race. Good times. About the race, I've never really cared about Nascar and actually ripped on it because everybody around here makes such a big deal about it. A girl we know got jason and I free tickets though so we thought we'd go, get drunk, take a bunch of pictures of mullets and laugh at the whole thing but I actually had a pretty good time. A big part of this can be attributed to the fact that it's the only "sporting event" I've ever seen where you can actually bring in your own cooler and not have to buy $6 beers. I'd probably be in trouble though if you could do that at a baseball or football game. Hell, Jason just about had to physically restrain me that night when the NES wouldn't work with our hotel TV.
Definitely an awesome trip all around though. Especially the quality RBI action at Mclane's house. If I do it again though, I'm flying. Oh yeah, and fuck everything about the state of Oklahoma.
Always bring both the old coax (aka grey box) connector and the "new" composite (yellow video cable) connectors when taking the NES on the road. We learned this one the hard way on our trip to Albany...
Yep, we had the old but not the new and unfortunately lost 2 days of RBI.
Traveling lessons, we all learn... We did one trip to Vegas driving (24 hours straight) and will never do that again. Ditto with the NES cables, we now know to bring them both. You're a veteran now...
At one point we saw a little B&W TV at a truck stop for like $17 and seriously debated buying it and a big cigarette lighter adapter so the passenger could play RBI during the drive. We ended up deciding not to go through the trouble without being 100% sure it would work but we may look into it for future trips.
It works. My Altima has an extra 12v adapter slot so that you can run two things at once, and we've run the B&W and the 9v NES at the same time without it exploding or me driving off the road. If you decide to try it and have problems, let me know.
A solid post!
Driving on the spare tire is very similar to the Dee-Nee gang. I think we've all done it for extended periods of time.
Carrying coolers full of beer is the way to go. I don't know if it'd be worth going to NASCAR, but we've been able to do it for football games at NIU.
Finally quit being lazy and got the pics developed. Actually, CVS gets partial blame b/c the first time I took them their power was out and they closed at like 4pm.
Anyway, here's a quality pic to commemorate this fine evening of drunkenness and RBI.
HELL YEAH! DEE NEE!!!!
Solid, doubly so with the Dropkick Murphy's shirt. Blackout is fantastic...
Baines, thanks for getting that picture up. It's definitely a night we won't soon forget. Dee nee unification is key. DEE NEE!
Gantry, Blackout is probably their best so far, which is saying a lot. Damn, I love that album. They were one of my first punk rock bands.
