The IPs are all different, I changed the settings so new members need approval from me first.

Do you plan to administer a literacy test or institute some sort of joiners' tax?  What a tyrant...

This surprises me - I assumed it was all coming from the same place, although I suppose it's likely one master spammer with a group of minions.

If the personal approval gets tedious, you could try creating an RBI-related captcha or security question - even something simple like "What RBI team does Reggie Jackson play for?" would probably deter spammers (they can do text captchas, but I doubt they would bother to do actual research), and if we have non-RBI-playing friends who want to join, they can just ask us for the answer.

I doubt it'll get too bad, I think gmail had their captcha broken recently, a good chunk of the new accounts used gmail.  Between activation and a captcha, that's really all I want to do.  I'll turn off the approval after a couple days...

But it ain't a word, stands for "Completely Automated Public Turing test to tell Computers and Humans Apart."  - though I have a feeling you'll hate it even more now.

The only thing worse than acronyms are words purposefully designed in awkward ways so that a clever acronyms can be used instead of the word itself.

Nice.

Looks like more of a jockstrap than a thong though.

I've seen some weak steeze in my day but this really takes the cake.  Absolutely pathetic.

Effort and originality...the suck.  Par for the course.
