Title: Baseball Stars
Post by: ryno on 12/01/08, 06:52:42 PM
Today I saw a Wii game by SNK --- classic games or some shit.  It has Baseball Stars on it ---- $20 for the game (about 20 SNK classics).

Anyone recall if Baseball Stars is any good?

i think that is the arcade version of baseball stars...VERY different from the console.  the gameplay itself is very similar, but it lacks the team building mode.

Original Baseball Stars = awesome, one of the best games for the NES.  I've never played 2.

One of the best games I have ever played until I turned it on one day and everything was erased.
....worst game ever!

Agree, BS1 and TSB are my desert island NES games. Baseball Stars 2 was a *huge* disappointment. The gameplay itself and the graphics were almost exactly the same as BS1, but they removed all the things that made BS1 great. I think you could make teams, but they removed a whole bunch of customization options. I don't think you could create/rename players, or power them up or anything. I don't think they added any statistics features (would love to be wrong about this). They had four fields instead of one, but all that meant was the color shades were different.

A next gen version of baseball stars (the original) should be made pronto. Esp since all 2K Sports seems to want to do with their mlb license is update the rosters each year, or make the game more buggy.

Baseball Stars is 2nd best amongst nes baseball games R.B.I. being #1. One thing about Baseball Stars to point out you can actually extract all the stats for each game so if you decided to start a league that would be great.

Baseball Stars 2 is just as good as #1.  I don't remember any significant differences.

Then why did they bother making a second one?

Truly don't have the time to run a league. The nestopia emulator is running greater than ever. If I decided to run a baseball league again it probably be with Baseball Stars since it has a stat extractor.
