Title: Juice mode
Post by: Turd on 04/26/09, 09:14:15 AM
For TSB, we have a patch where we can up the computer juice numbers so that it's more challenging to play vs. the CPU in a 1 player game.  I wonder, outside of ratings, if there's a way to do this in RBI...increase power, pitching ability...it's never easy to mimic human AI, but even a little better CPU ability would make single player games more fun...

Do many of you still play single player? Or is it mostly fantasy and in-person gaming for RBI?

Single player TSB players are few and far between as well...

We have made ROMs where every player on a team basically has max power and pitching speed

Any way to improve the AI would be great.  I assume fielding would be almost impossible so it's a question of pitching selection/location

Heh, yeah, that's the reason a lot of TSB'ers like this juice mode.  There's code that says how well they play every week...and if you're undefeated in the superbowl. you're against teh hardest the computer will play...we take that number and apply it to week 1 - 17 and playoffs as well.  You can even go past that if you dare, which I had to do at one point.  Since I'm very new to dee-nee, I got lots of pondering questions that pop in my head at one ponti or another...

Unfortunately there's nothing like a predefined difficulty level in RBI. Even the all-star teams are just beefed up stat-wise (arguably not enough to matter).

Some of the Japanese games have a hidden "superteam," but if I recall correctly that's still done in individual player data.

Yes, I figure it'll have to be done with individual stats...no biggie. Just thought I'd spark some discussion...

There's some sort of random "hotness" seed value for how well a pitcher can throw though, right?  I gathered that from a thread I found regarding pitching speed...

There's a Jews Mode, but only when you  play Rack or GDavis.

Also RBI 2 and 3 (which are America-only, as far as I know), and they're done in player data as well.
