I gave up a home run to raffy santana in straight pitch today. Has anyone else seen this happen? I know he generally doesn't get at ABs, but occasionally people let him in and he generally doesn't even get near the warning track.
How embarrassed should I be? Are there any starters that you think would be less capable of hitting HRs? I hit HRs semi often with Coleman and Smith and even had a 3 HR game with Craig Reynolds last week. All are more of the norm than Santana hitting one.
I think Santana hit a HR in our fantasy RBI league this season... Darky?

no, Santana is 1-1 with a single in his only pinch hit at-bat of the year for the BadAsses...
santana is the worst hitter in the game. only a pitcher rates worse. (all pitchers have the same ratings in RBI).

That's right, he got a hit but not a HR.
I do remember reading elsewhere on Dee-Nee about a Santana home run though.
I have never seen Santana get a homer, you should be thoroughly embarassed.
As it was heading out I knew it was a big moment. I'm not pleased it happened to me, but it's cool to say that I've seen it happen. Sort of like witnessing a no hitter in person. I think I probably would've said the odds were even between that and seeing a Santana HR in my life.
Yesterday I also saw a ball go through the top of the wall in right center. I swear it was a good quarter of an inch below the stands and it definitely wasn't down the line. I've never seen that before. In other oddities, I PH for the pitcher in the top of the 8th and he came back out for the bottom of the inning (I wasn't that excited because it was corbet) and my opponent has had three errors in 6 of the last nine games we've played (three is the most we've ever had in a game).
I gave up a homer to somebody in the COTUT last year. I like to offer my opponent an "A" ball if they keep shit stains like Raffy in the lineup...guy still bats about .100 this way. Only time I've ever witness him going yard.
I believe shit stain is one word, shitstain...
are you retarded or something? it's twowords.
wrong.

I'm so happy I had the opportunity to use this pic again. Tito would have no problems hitting one out...

ARRIBA!
I once yielded a homer to Santana...and I was embarassed even though I was the only one in the room.
The computer hit a home run with Santana against you? Wow, you should be embarrassed.
keep in mind most people play bp against the computer.
i just hit a 3-run homer with santana. it was a wallzie pulled down the LF line.
it was glorious, i was just hoping it would stay fair.
stay fair!
go foul!

go foul!
FOUL BALL!

Now I'll forever imagine you as Gary Busey
use the have-to
i just homered again with santana. a two run shot over the wall in left. off of schiraldi.
I believe it. I have seen an Ozzie Smith homer, so I believe that a Santana homer is possible. That being said, you should be embarrassed.
Yeah but Santana is quite rare because of these two facts:
1) His power is 27 points LOWER than The Wizard
2) Anyone with half a brain takes him out

This is quite true. I don't know if I have actually batted with Santana since I was in middle school. I am pretty sure that I had slightly less than half a brain back then and most of what brains I did have was not thinking RBI strategy. I only see him bat now when I play the computer. I am fairly confident that I have never given up a Santana homer to the computer
Yeah, the only reason to keep santana in is as a joke or if you are playing someone whose skill level is way below yours. Wally Backman is no picnic either, in fact I hate the Mets in RBI. There, I said it...
I must be the only person in the world who never substitutes anyone. I only use the subs as pinch hitters late in the game (mostly for the pitcher's spot). What a loser I am. :-\
you think you know somebody . . .

For a long time, this was the way my RBI buddy and I played - not because we made a rule or anything, but because we didn't realize the treasures that awaited us on the benches. We still never advanced to the levels of sub-strategy that are now commonplace, but guys like Armas, Murphy, and McGwire no longer languished on the pine all game. Had we not eventually moved on to RBI 2 and 3 (where you had more information when putting lineups together), I'm sure we'd have figured more of them out eventually.
Nothing was more defeating to the ego than to bring in a guy off of the bench and have him hit a homer. Many a controller was thrown over what, at the time, was deemed by me or my brother to be "computer cheating." Little did we know that there was an actual power boost for pinch hitters.

i was 2-0 with the mets and 0-3 with boston at the fest. go figure...
