We should get some sort of collaborative going and rate the rest of the missing teams from 1987. I don't have enough historical knowledge to do it completely, but with all the knowledge you people have here, having the rest of the teams on the original ROM would be sweet.
I could set up some sort of editor where the whole community has access and we all just collaborate to get the ratings right...
What do you think?
Ryno and I did an awesome '87 roster file for MVP 2005. I'd be more than happy to help on '87 for rbi, especially pitchers. Have the Neyer/James book too.
did you know that four of the teams are from 1986 (Ca, Bo, NY, Ho)? did you want to update all the teams to 1987? just curious.
I can't really help on a rating, but just thought i'd throw that reminder about the years on the teams.

What I was thinking was to take whatever year was better for each of the remaining 20 teams and use that as criteria for what data to include.
I don't know...I just think it'd be cool to have a TRUE original game, and the closer we get to original style ratings with all the teams would be kind of cool...
you'll keep the original ten team rosters of the tengen league or no??
You got it...
If you keep the All-Star teams, you could also switch them over to using the real All-Star rosters - part of the logic used to put together the NL and AL teams in RBI was that no players from the other 8 teams were included, which obviously isn't a concern if you have all 26 real teams. Then again, with 30 slots, you could keep the original RBI All-Stars and also add the real All-Star teams, and it wouldn't require much extra work for the new teams since you'd have the players' ratings on their real MLB team.
i second beefy's idea.
You know, I forgot there were only 26 teams. I was thinking I'd just have to leave them off. We should start this project sometime in the near future. Once I get my other projects completed, I think I could whip something up.

In the spirit of RBI, are you going to occasionally include a prior season's abilities if a player was really good a couple years earlier but not in the RBI year (like they did with Armas and Reggie)?
I don't know. As I said, I don't have the historical knowledge, and it's not a project I want to take on myself, I would basically put an editor up where the people that want to help can go in and enter ratings at will...hence the word "collaborative." Then, when we're all done, we can say it was sponsored by dee-nee or something :)
I don't foresee starting this for a while, as I want to focus on my new edit for 2009 and finishing my editor and season tracker and all that stuff, but I did want to put the idea out there to see who was interested.

yes, I like that idea
I wouldn't mind putting the Braves squad together
If we have a bunch of people doing different teams, we need the formulas or whatever to calculate ratings consistently. Just to keep everything in line.
I have a set of formulas that should keep batting consistent, i'd be more worried bout pitching, although I've got a good setup for that too, it's just not as cut and dry...

Bonny -- Do you have your roster set for the 87 Cards? I would like to recreate some of those players for one of my upcoming season on MVP 05.
Thanks a lot
Luke
irod, where do you get mvp 05? I'm usually pretty good at finding that stuff, but I couldn't find it anywhere online. Can you point me in the right direction, or is yours a legit purchased copy?
Not that I'll need it much with RBI going 30, but it still has my interest peaked a bit...

First of all. A BIG THANKS for everything you are doing with this site and for RBI Baseball. My brothers and I used to play all of the time and have tourneys in the basement. I still play the ROMs all of the time myself. I am playing on the Nintendo DS right now.
I picked up the computer copy of the MVP Baseball about 2 years ago or so at EB Games near my house. I just was looking around and they had one tucked away in their PC games. I snagged it up so quick it was not funny. I love going onto MVPMods.com to get all of the new stadiums and the updated player stuff. Check it out.
People on Ebay are charging crazy amounts of $ for this game. I also own the Xbox version of MVP.
Keep up the good work.
Dang, I thought maybe people were downloading it using torrents or something...oh well..,
Well they might be. I dont usually do that, but you could look into it. I love the MVP game. I have not tried the new 2K stuff.
I still love RBI and that new 30 team ROM. I cannot wait to see your editor.
Thanks again
Keep it up.
Nightwulf is taking over the editor, mine is really just something I'm doing for myself cause Ilike to have my own copy of the code to tweak as needed. I'd be glad to share it, but I'm making an effort not to step on Nightwulf's toes...
That is fine. I just cant wait to mess with the Cardinals lineup.
I will let you know if I run across a copy of MVP 05

Here's the complete 1987 Roster file and schedule. This is just a roster edit does not include cyberfaces or unis. Rating wise its pretty good. If you have MVPEdit you can extract the '87 Cards no problem.
Bonny
Thanks a lot for the file I will look at it tonight.
