One time I was playing this dude that always used to beat me. Well it was tied in the bottom of the ninth and I think I had Kirby Puckett up or someone. I hit a long shot.. it was a home run for sure... then just as the ball was about to hit the crowd.... the power went out and then on and reset the damn console...DOH!! Anybody else with similar stories?
the power resets all the time but i cant remember a time where it was that dramatic.
If it was obviously going to go out of the Tengen ballyard, then there's no issue. Home run.
Worse, Ryan Express and I were engaged in a 0-0 masterpiece by Tudor and Blyleven (and it was a Game 3)and the power went off.
a game that was undecided would be more frustrating than one that was obviously going to end. rain outs are the worst though... you know the games where you take an early lead and then the showers come and rain out the game before it is official... nobody can predict the weather conditions at tengen field.
The early-lead resets are brutal, I almost blew my top when it happened to me against Potsie in game #1 of the finals this year...
And I agree with Big_Apple, the opposing player should concede the game if it is obviously a home run. Easier to say so, but I'm pretty sure I would give my opponent the victory...
Also high on the frustration scale is the stupid no-extra-innings in Arcade RBI. If the game is tied after 9, it's over. I never remember that rule either when we're playing....
cant say that we have had any games end in a tie but you would think that as long as you were putting in quarters, why should the game end in a tie. of course we'll have to ask the programmers.
How do you guys handle an unexpected reset? Do you give the leader the win if it's after 5 innings, or play where no matter how far along or how lop-sided the game is it is null and void?
if its after 5 then it is an official game... called due to rain... anything before that is washed out.
