Title: 2yr RBI fan first time poster
Post by: 3rdDegree on 10/04/09, 10:10:55 PM
I was introduced to this game about a couple years ago and it is awesome.  I never would imagined a small simple game would be able to capture the essence of baseball so well.  I took a break from this game and recently got it working on a rom on my wii and started up again.  But this time I decided to keep stats.  Seems not that lame, but I'm actually keeping the stats against the computer not actual people.  I really don't have anyone to devote that kind of time to this game with.  I was looking up a list of all the teams names and that's how I came across this site

Anyways, I typed up some crap on excel, made a few formulas and let the stat tracking begin.  I know it seems short but I count each season as 9 wins.  Since i never lose to the computer and i don't think anyone does every season is just 9 games and i'm pretty much just tracking how well i do each season.  I made the sheets to track the batting stats of each player on the team and the pitching stats of each player.  I'm currently using the Tigers and I set it up so each player has a career(10 seasons as i figure i'll switch teams by then) stats page that totals how each season went.  Then a total of how I've done with that team in batting and pitching over the 10 seasons.  I think im obsessed with baseball stats.  I included the usual stats and I think by the 5th season i might add a "vs x team" stat.

Yes, I feel incredibly lame. I've told friends and the only thing they've said is "why?"  if anyone wants the spreadsheet for the tigers then you can change the names for whatever team you want to use let me know.  However, changing all the names might take you awhile.  I think there might be a replace X with Y thing on excel though so maybe not.  Also, I haven't set up the career stats to sync up with all the seasons yet, just the first 3.

So on a scale of 1-10, if you even read all of this as i feel like i confused myself typing it, how lame would you rate this venture?

Are you interested in doing stats for the next RBI Fantasy League? As well as scoring the games. I can pay you...

You can go from here to get a sense:

Also tracking stats and keeping a record of stats is much more fascinating when it's com vs com...

Welcome 3rdDegree!  If there's one thing you should know about Dee-Nee, that anything RBI related you do is not lame in the least.

I made a spreadsheet to make stats for contemporary players (2007 at the time).

I then had 10 people on a video game site I went to draft teams, and I then had them all play each other in a 13 game season. I recorded most of the games, posted box scores, kept extensive season stats, and even recorded commentary for some.

I'm still not the nerdiest guy on this site.

You should play the juiced version and see what kind of stats you get. I bet you find you have to fight to not lose to the CPU.

That site explains how I did it. It took a couple hours and im not exactly sure how im going to update my wii in the future but for now its worth it.

Not sure how the Juiced ROM plays, but Heaven vs Hell is fun stuff.  As long as you have an extra 15 minutes per game to allow fly balls to come down.

Heaven and he'll was too crazy. The juiced rom is a 30 team rom that uses the players realistic attributes, just makes the CPU a bit faster so that they don't let as many silly things happen. I dare you to try and hit an inside the park hr on the juiced rom.

I see that that is how you softmodded, and I already have homebrew channel, but how did you get RBI working after modding?

I followed that tutorial to the 5th page in which there was a 3rd sd card pack that included a nes emulator called fgx or something.  I just put the rbi.nes rom in the rom folder in the sd card and loaded up the emulator from homebrew.

There was also a homebrew browser in the pack where you can download programs straight to the sd card through your wii and you don't need to keep putting the card into your computer other than for roms and video files.  That's where i found the snes emulator for wii.
