Andre Dawson is the only member of the 2010 class (http://community.baseballhall.org/Page.aspx?pid=569). Glad to see an RBIer added to the Hall of Fame. Blyleven missed out by five votes.
Congrats to Andre, but the BBWAA is still stupid.
Congrats to the Hawk.
The writers are a joke. (David Segui, Kevin Appier etc getting votes)
So, people really won't vote Mark McGwire in, huh? Just because he said he wasn't here to talk about the past. gay
Booya
wow. . .surprised he's the only one
bert fucked again...lol to some moron voting for sequi
Do they release who voted for who?
Dawson in the hall = fine.
Dawson in the hall in front of Blyleven/McGwire = stupid.

So ridiculous.
i heard some dumb schmuck on television say he didn't vote for anybody because he thinks no one deserves to get in on the first ballot. i don't understand that whole deal. if you're good enough to make it, aren't you good enough to make it on the first ballot?

Don't they already make them wait like 7 years or something.
Seems like a small man on a power trip to me

Thank you. It's not as if you have an opportunity in between this year and next to inflate your stats or anything like that.
I wish guys like that would have their voting rights stripped.
How the fuck is Raines only getting 30%?

he played in montreal.... and he wasn't as dominating in real life as he was in RBI.
he did have that cool "power and speed" or whatever card with dawson (83 fleer?)

I think Blyleven got screwed, Alomar got reamed, Larkin was shit on, and hell, even McGwire has a beef. But NO ONE got it in the ass worse than Tim Raines. HOF voting is a fucking sham.
Glad to see Dawson finally get in. Not a big fan of Bert but I respect his stats, he should be in as well. Many feels that Rock Raines suffered when Dawson left Montreal as Dawson was a mentor.

83-89 is ridiculous
SB% is insane
808 SB is HOF worthy almost in itself.
Such a great sport, yet everything surrounding it is fucked up.
truer words . . .
hey, have any of you guys heard that Dawson had a low OBP? I hadn't heard that until today. . .
Seriously, we know this. Since when is OBP the only factor to consider on a ballplayer?
he struck out a lot from what I remember, perhaps the low OBP, then again he hit lots of homers too.
this thread is wrong...hawk harrelson did NOT get elected to the hall of fame today
:'(

he didn't strike out all that much -- just a handful of years where he K'd 100 times or more.

They have a "Shitty GM" Hall of Fame now? He should be first ballot, no question.

They have a "totally awesome announcer" Hall of Fame now? He should be first ballot, no question.
Is that the guy who does the White Sox? If so he is the worst.
Hawk is a good announcer imo
"yes, put it on the board"
so stupid.
I'm no Hawk or White Sox fan, but isn't it, "Puuuuuuut it on the board, Yeeees!"
A lot of times the douchey play by play guy gets in the "yeeees" part of it.
Does anyone outside of Chicago like the Hawk? Cause they should...
He don't bother me.
i liked him and wimpy. . .. . always fun to hear them do a game

I don't like or hate him, but think of him as a joke. I guess the city of Chicago likes goofy ass announcers with him and Caray.
Other note, baseball writers are the most miserable, shitty human beings ever. They had some fat bastard on Hot Stove last night telling why he didn't vote for Alomar. He said he thought he was the best 2nd baseman since Morgan, but didn't like the "spitting" incident. He said he'd vote for him next year. When they pressed him on it saying the umpire has forgiven him and moved on, said stupid writer fumbled around and recalled one time when Alomar was turning a double play and threw the ball away. So he remembers Alomar making an error...ok. I have a feeling that Alomar gave this fat fuck a rotten interview a few years ago and now he's getting his vengeance.
Sportswriters are some of the most fucking stupid, horrible people ever.
The HOF is for those who don't make errors. Everyone knows that

Carey was a great announcer, very sharp. Maybe you aren't aware just how long of a career he had as an announcer. Sure he was a mess toward the end of his life with the cubs due to old age but he was one of the best announcers in the game.
If it wasn't for Will Ferrell nobody would give a shit about Harray Caray anymore
I thought he was most famous for singing Take Me out to the Ballgame and being piss drunk. I still didn't hate the guy, I just thought he was a buffoon
BDawk, your assessment is 100% correct except that you forgot butchering names. He was really good at that.
I always enjoyed when he would try to say names backwards. One game in particular, he took on Grudzielanek. A good time was had by all.
JOEEE DEEEE, JO-DY DAV-IS!
Quote from sportswriter and HOF voter Bill Conlan. He writes for the Philadelphia Inquirer and have known about his bullshit for some time:
I voted for Tim Raines his first year of eligibility. But when he failed to get 25 percent of the vote, he was moved to the back burner. Sorry, that's just the way it has to be. Maybe more eligible ballwriters should have measured the Rock's career numbers in all phases against those of analog basestealer and first-ballot inductee Lou Brock. Try it, you'll be amazed.
Good news for Raines, however. Yesterday, in one of the most bizarre elections in a bizarre process, he collected 30 percent and is now back on my radar.
Go fuck yourself
Artie told a great story about Harry Caray that Bob Uecker told him and Norm MacDonald...
He said that Harry used to get so piss drunk after the game that one time, they all slipped the waitress a few hundred bucks to serve them topless...but when a drunk Harry Caray went crazy over it, everybody just pretended like he was nuts and that he thought she was topless just because he was so drunk. I guess you had to hear Artie tell the story...

Harry brought the take me out to the ballgame to the Cubs, he was a great announcer for the White Sox and he didn't butcher names until later in his career with the Cubs, some say he was more lovable and humorous for this feature. You and Bdawk are missing my point that he was a great announcer for 3/4 of his career, his downhill slide came with the Cubs.
