Title: A game for the ages
Post by: Gantry on 07/04/04, 10:25:21 PM
After playing a tight game of curve pitch (won by yours truly), Potsie and I decided to roll the die for a game of straight pitch.  The results:

Gantry (Minnesota) - 14, 11 HRs
Potsie  (National League) - 3, 2 HRs

In one inning! - That's right folks, 14 runs with Minnesota in the first inning.  Topped off by Roy Smalley getting two dingers.  I think that might have been the best inning I've ever played....

WOW.  Impressive.

I imagine that's a ton of HRs for Minn for an entire 9 inning game!

It certainly is, I just couldn't stop launching them.  Even Kirby Puckett hit a dinger for me.   The only hole was the 8 spot - Gene "Dee-Nee" Larkin got out and the second time through the order Potsie finally got sick of Sutcliffe and put in Fernando.  I subbed in Davidson to go righty-lefty, but he flew out to deep center.    Should have left Lombardozzi in...

Minnesota can be an erratic team like that at certain times.  Spike_owen#1 and I played this Minn vs. Cali series for about a month and they came through with a couple offensive explosions but none of that caliber.  The best I had was a 14 HR game with 7 in the 8th inning.  If I remember right i followed it up with a 5 run 9 inning game.
