Title: Newbie
Post by: golfer5714 on 01/30/10, 04:27:06 PM
Hey everybody!

New to these wonderful forums but have been playing RBI since the early 1990s.  Although I am a huge Minnesota Twins fan and my all-time favorite athlete by far is Nolan Ryan (my wife says I have a man crush on him), I am hardly ever the Twins or Astros on RBI.  Boston all the way!!!  My brother and I have epic RBI battles (straight pitch), him usually being California.  Just wanted to say hello and thanks for making such a great website!

Welcome aboard. I'd like to say I'm out of my noob status, but some of these goobers have like 20000 posts, but I still say "welcome." If you ever wanna play online, let me know.

Welcome golfer!  As a fellow straight pitch player I salute you - what are your rules?

Thanks for the welcome guys!  Our rules are pretty straight forward, you can move the pitcher on the mound but then you gotta throw it straight from wherever you chose.  We don't acknowledge the infield fly rule since RBI doesn't either, so with runners on at least first and second and less than two outs it pretty much gaurnteed a pop up in the infield will be a double play.  We keep track of a crazy record: errors.  Whenever we throw somebody out at first and nobody else is on (or with two outs), we always move the first basemen real quick after the out and then throw it back to first and it hits the wall for an error.  I hold this record with 21 errors in a 9 inning game haha.  As mentioned, I love playing with Boston.  I take out Barret and Buckner for Armas and Burks, and take out Owens for Henderson.  I just love RBI!  Do most people on here play straight pitch?

Most folks are curve pitchers, the group that started the site play straight pitch and have a drinking game tournament every year.  I am the current champ, you hear that Lips?

Oh damn we don't even play slowballs!  The only change of speed we get is if we don't press down on the controller haha

Easier to do than explain/resize - post a picture and I'll make it your avatar.  But it's under your profile

Twins fan = approved.  Don't feel bad about rarely using them - my favorite team to use in RBI is the Cardinals, even though they were the Twins' World Series opponents (my old RBI buddy and I use to play lots of '87 rematches, and I generally was the "bad guys").

Welcome to the boards, golfer.
