Henderson stole a base for no reason during a blowout and Lopes took offense. He told reporters ``I just told him to stay in the game, because he was going (down)... We were going to drill him.''
The best part of the story is omitted. Lopes was pissed because Henderson stole a base when his team was winning 12-5. After the game, a reporter brought up the fact that Lopes, himself, had stole like 8 bases in his career while his team was up by 7 or more runs. Lopes immediately ended the interview.

Davey Lopes almost screwed me in a game last night between Houston and New York. Lopes hit a 2 run RBI double, but Strawberry clobbered a grand slam off of Charlie Kerfeld to seal the victory. Lopes is becoming a bane of my existence lately. This was pretty funny to read, awesome!

I don't understand why this is even an issue at the professional level.
You are a fucking professional making millions of bucks to not let people steal off of you. If the Brewers didn't want Henderson to steal a base, then they should have thrown him out or not let him get on base to begin with.
It's kind of like the UCLA football coach calling out USC and taking ads out in the paper shit talking, and then being pissed when USC throws for a TD late in the game.... even though UCLA was still going for it on 4th down and dragging the game out for no reason.
Fuck them both.
White Lopes is OK by me though.
