Wow, what a game between the two rivals.

Holy shit was it epic between the two teams with the best records last year and played in some memorable games last season. I was going apeshit with Molitor killing us from the 8 hole. Could have gone either way. Glad we pulled it out. The 9th inning was huge, I thought you guys were going to have one of those 12 run innings.
3 in a row over the Sally Cunts! The Empire will savior this victory for now. You guys have a good team.

Very unhappy with that performance.  Though he hit a solo shot, I am still VERY unhappy with Murphy's work with runners on base.

Murphy sucks.  He's the worst everday player on our team right now.  Not what you expect from a #1 pick.  Raines is also on shaky ground, although 2 dingers today was a marked improvement.  Our best players are fucking Pendleton and Kruk.  WTF?
Title: Re: FRBI VI Week 5

We were also pretty unlucky on defense that game.  I think we threw one away that led to a run or two scoring.  Add that to a poor baserunning mistake and I'd say that luck just wasn't in our favor.  I think that Murphy can't keep up this funk.  We're in good shape in the long run.

Kruk is the real deal.

He made up for that throwing error to third in the first or second inning.

Joyner stepped up early and helped build the lead.  I think he had four rbis.

Clutch hitting and fielding in the last couple innings.  Great win.  Back on track and ready to dominate.

I must have been focusing too much on Joyner's faults, you can't argue with 4 RBIs.  The 6 hole is his spot...

Some impressive errors in the AB-OC game - each team made an error attempting to turn a double play...

OC Legions hit a grounder to the right side with a man on first, fielded by the second baseman on his way to cover first.  He threw it to second, and I thought they'd managed to avoid the error; however, not only was the runner safe there, but the shortstop made his relay before the second baseman made it to first base.  E6, runners at second and third (I believe both scored).

Badasses loaded the bases with one out and hit a grounder to the first baseman.  He threw home for one out, and the catcher threw right back before the second baseman made it over to cover.  Thankfully, the computer runners didn't take off until the ball hit the wall, so it only resulted in one run (their only one of the game).  I believe it was the first time I've seen a throwing error by the catcher.

Questionable fielding decision immediately before that play, too - with runners at first and third and one out, hard grounder back to the pitcher, who throws home to hold the runner.  If he'd thrown to second, it likely would've been an inning-ending double play.

This is exactly why I took Straw instead of Murphy (plus I like Straw's speed better). Murphy is really good at hitting solo shots and hitting bombs when your team is down by more than 8 runs or so. He's solid though, he'll clutch up eventually. He's good at starting rallies, but I have noticed that he does not do that great with runners in scoring position most of the time. I've had him for two seasons, so I have a good idea about him.

About the game, it was the little things that made the difference. I almost started Buckner, but I'm glad I didn't since Doran was safe of a huge sac fly. Had that been Buckner, his slow ass would have been drilled. I should watch the game again, don't remember much really.

The Alliance-Hammocks game was a great high scoring game---and it's gonna be a bitch to score >:(  The Alliance look good and Puckett is having a good year so far.

The OC woke up, and I'll be more than happy to score that quick game. The OC and AB will be playing each other for the next two games---they ended up with the three game stand against each other this year.

The Ulrachers-Blue Ribbons was a tight one too.

The Poopydicks were too much for the Artichokes. I think the Artichokes will be last in HR's this year.

MikeD/Nacho....actually Murphy did well. I think you guys are expecting huge games from him. He really doesn't produce those kind of mammoth games. He's just real steady.

I just watched the game again. You guys hit into two double plays that killed potential big innings. One in the 8th and one in the 9th. They were both line out double plays. I definitely got the breaks to go my way that game.

Also, I love Strawberry. Dude is clutch.

This season is extremely fun so far. Everybody is passionately involved and participating the way I imagined.

The season is still very early. The Fighting Artichokes were under the radar until they made their late season push. Then they pulled off a huge upset in the divisional playoffs over the Legions of Doom. Anything can happen in a 7 game series.

The Gantry Division is going to be a battle for the playoff spots. I think the Ulrachers are a cinch to get in. I still see the other two playoff spots being wide open right now---but I do like the Sally Cunts to take a playoff spot. If the OC can get on a roll with all their power, then watch out. The Blue Ribbons have solid pitching which will keep them in games. They have just enough offense to pull out wins as well---though they lack some power in the lineup. The Badasses are in a funk. Can't put my finger on it, they do have some quality hitters and their pitching is not the worst---or best.

Over in the Dove RBI division, it looks like Alliance should coast into the playoffs. They can afford to have silent bats on an off day with their pitching. I think my team should get in the playoffs. The third spot should be a battle between the Poopydicks and the Hammocks. I don't know if the Artichokes can work their magic again this season.
Also, I think the Empire matches up well with the Alliance, so a 7 game series is very much welcome Repeat/Barton ;D

Trades will be open soon fellas!

Recaps will come tomorrow and week 6 will take place on Sunday. Need a little recess here and catch up on the stats.

Mind=Blown

I just finished scoring the Hammocks-Alliance game. I thought the Alliance won for some reason, and I found out that it was actually the Hammocks who won. Weird. So that makes it a 3-way tie in the Dove RBI division---and the Empire with the edge because of head-to-head pwznage over the Alliance and Poopydicks. Back where the Empire belongs. JUGGERNAUT'd!!!111

Recap on the way...

Banana Hammocks outslug Rebel Alliance in slugfest, bullpen comes through down the stretch

Madison (AP) - There was no shortage of offense in last night's offensive display at Porkins Memorial Stadium. Both teams combined for 16 homeruns, 66 hits, and 46 runs.
The difference came down to the bullpens in the 8th and 9th inning. The Banana Hammocks outscored the Alliance 9-0 in the 8th and 9th and captured their second consecutive victory as they won 25-21.

RP's Stanly and Dayley had sharp outings in relief as they held the Alliance to 3 hits and no runs.

Leading the charge offensively for the Hammocks, D.Hendrsn hit 3 homeruns and knocked in 7 runners, M.Schmdt blasted a pair while driving in 5 runners, and K.Hrndz went 6-7 at the plate with 4 RBI.

T.Armas had a huge day for the Alliance. The husky slugger was 6-7 at the plate, hit a pair of blasts along with two doubles and 5 RBI.

Banana Hammocks 2-3, (2-3)
Rebel Alliance 3-2, (2-2)

OC Legions of Doom blow out Awesome Badasses in three quick innings

San Luis Obispo (AP) - J.Rice and M.McGwir hit back-to-back shots in the first inning and the inspired Legions of Doom went on to quickly mercy rule the Awesome Badasses 11-1 in three innings.

J.Rice did much of the damage by going 2-2 at the plate and launching a pair of homeruns with 5 RBI's.

M.Scott struggled for the Badasses and the Badasses looked lifeless on the field as they paid for it quickly. Last year's playoff participants now appear to have their backs to the wall and will need some wins fast to have a chance for the playoffs.

The two teams will square off again in weeks 6 and 7 to conclude the pivotal 3-game series.

Awesome Badasses 1-4, (0-4)
OC Legions of Doom 2-3, (1-3)

Laudnr's huge night and walk-off shot carries Ulrachers to victory

Chicago (AP) - In a tightly played thriller at Soldier Field, the Ulrachers narrowly defeated the Pabst Blue Ribbons 19-16---courtesy of a Laudnr walk-off homerun in the bottom of the ninth inning.

In a wild back and forth game, K.Herbek hit a high arching opposite field homerun in the top of the ninth to give the Pabst Blue Ribbons a 16-15 lead going into the bottom half of the 9th. It was not enough.

W.Hrndz came out of the bullpen to protect a thin one run lead. W.Clark and D.Evans singled to lead off the inning. C.Mldndo then hit a seed to score Clark from second base and the next batter Whtkr, lined out. With the roaring crowd at Soldier Field on their feet, Laudnr stepped up to the plate and hit a 1-1 pitch into the Chicago sunset to end the contest.

The Fighting Ulrachers move into sole possession of first place in the Gantry Division and have the best record in the FRBI League with a 4-1 record.

Pabst Blue Ribbons 3-2, (3-1)
Fighting Ulrachers 4-1, (4-1)

Darky, you know what would help, and this is  just a suggestion, but bundle the ROM and all the games in one zip file. Name them after the week they are for...

So, the ROM and the movie files could be named:

FRBI IV - Week 5.[zip|vmv|nes]

Just a thought...that way you can go back and re-watch old weeks without having to do any renaming, and people don't have to have the confusion of which ROM it's for.

If you don't like bundling them all in one zip, then at least just name the movie files and rom file after the week it's for...

We can try it since there was some confusion. This means that the ROM for a particular week will be released after the games are played since they will be packed in the same zip file. And it will now be mandatory and imperative to download each individual ROM for every week.

This would save time if you wanted to watch an older game that is not up on youtube. The way it is now, you have to go back to the thread of a particular week and download the ROM again and then play the vmv file/game.

Poopydicks use 6 run ninth to pull away from struggling Artichokes, win 3rd straight

Fort Dodge (AP) - In almost business like fashion, the Poopydicks defeated the struggling Fighting Artichokes 17-9 at Fort Dodge Park.

The Poopydicks jumped out to a 7-1 lead by the third inning and hit the snooze button. The Artichokes chipped into the lead and made it 7-4 after the 5th inning, but G.Brett's 2 RBI triple increased the lead to 9-4 in the 6th inning. The Artichokes added a run in the bottom half of the 6th and 2 more in the bottom of the 7th to trim the margin 9-7, but the Poopydicks tacked on two more runs thanks to a Canseco 2-run laser homerun that left the park within a second.
Up 11-7 in the bottom of the 8th, Bedrock surrendered two runs to the feisty Artichokes and the crowd momentarily woke up as the Dove RBI divisional contest stood 11-9 in favor of the Poopydicks.

In the top of the ninth, the loyal crowd was silenced as seven straight hitters reached base and just like that in a business like manner, the score was 17-9 after a Dcincs 2-run shot. Brngr came in to pitch a scoreless 9th.
The Poopydicks have now won three straight games and have thrusted themselves into a 3-way tie in the Dove RBI division.

The Fighting Artichokes lost their 4th straight and are now 1-4. R.Jackson continues to struggle and was booed all day.

Poopydicks 3-2, (3-1)
Fighting Artichokes 1-4, (1-3)

Note Canseco/DeCinces/Brett went 15-18 after being moved up in the order.  We are the smartest people ever...

Gaetti's walk-off blast gives Empire narrow victory

Imperial Center (AP) - A record-setting sellout crowd of 112,000 fans filled the Imperial Center Stadium Thursday night, as the Galactic Empire got a walk-off 2 run homerun from Gaetti in the bottom of the 9th and won 16-14 in a back-and-forth affair with their arch-rival Sally Cunts.

The last time these two teams met, it was game 7 of the FRBI WS in which the Empire narrowly won in extra innings. The series was voted the greatest ever played in the history of the FRBI League and ESPN has the Empire-Sally Cunts rivalry number 3 in their top ten of the 10 greatest rivalries.
Both teams split during the regular season last year, had the two best records, won their respective divisions and breezed through the league championships, and met in an epic clash with two of the best teams to ever field a team in FRBI history.

So the buildup was set for this highly anticipated matchup at the Imperial Center as fans showed up early to tailgate and were not disappointed in what they witnessed with the intensely played game that came down to the wire in Empire-Cunt fashion.

In the top of the seventh inning, the Sally Cunts got a solo shot by D.Murphy to put them up 12-10, but the Empire had a 4-run rally to go up 14-12 in the bottom half of the 7th.
Both teams were held scoreless in the 8th inning thanks to brilliant pitching by D.Rghtti and D.Smith.

D.Murphy hit a two run mammoth homerun to even up the non league contest at 14. And in the bottom of the 9th with the score tied up, D.Mtngly led off the inning with a single. The next batter G.Gaetti then hammered a King fasball over everything and ended the game with his walk-off blast.

Despite going 4-6 with two doubles, two homeruns, and 3 RBI, D.Murphy continues to receive heavy scrutiny of not living up to his number one pick by the Sally Cunts. Owner MikeD angrily told the media - "Very unhappy with that performance.  Though he hit a solo shot, I am still VERY unhappy with Murphy's work with runners on base." Nacho also expressed his disappointment in Murphy - "Murphy sucks.  He's the worst everday player on our team right now. Not what you expect from a #1 pick."

When asked by the media of the dramatic win and an analysis of the game , Darkside kept it brief -  "We scored more runs than they did".

Sally Cunts 3-2, (2-1)
Galactic Empire 3-2, (2-1)
