I truly enjoy baseball, as such I am taking on a massive endeavor and wanted to share with the RBI world.
Starting in 1871 I will be releasing a yearly game based on stats from that year. Some of you may find the early days of baseball boring, but again I am doing this for me and sharing for those interested. Critiquing is welcome, bashing will be ignored.
I am attaching my early version of the 1871 National Association. This will be my only preliminary rom posted. I will finalize it by this weekend and begin work on 1872 afterwards.
I have no timetable for this massive undertaking, except to enjoy it.
Due to not wanting to take up space at Dee-Nee all roms are now located at www.gamersgalaxy.us/kongo in a tidy zip file with information about that season as well as the rom.
wow, quite ambitious with this project. Looking forward to it.
The guy loves baseball! Welcome to Dee-née, Congo. The best part is you are testing out my editor for me. Looking forward to more from this project of yours.
This does sound really cool.
Are you using a formula to generate your ratings? If so, are you planning on adjusting the formula throughout the various eras of baseball, or are all the old-school teams going to have rosters full of guys with 700 power and 150 speed (since there were few homers but lots of triples and steals)?
Someone should hack the ROM to include the old rule where the batter was out if the ball was caught on one bounce... I'm not sure when exactly that changed, although (according to the old-time baseball club in Rochester, MN) it was that way at least into the mid-1860s.

The great thing about my rating scale is its based on comparative stats accross the era of baseball. So yes, in the early days, there will be lack of homeruns and faster players. In the deadball era pitchers will dominate, in the steroid era you will see homeruns aplenty. It will be a nice walk through baseball history. Please keep in my that jersey information is scant at best for pre1900 baseball. therefore teams will have combinations of grey, white, "dirt" color to help differentiate the teams.
Awesome
If you want a page on RBIBaseball.us for this project, I'll set it up.
Thank you turd, I have set up a site, but you are can put them on your site too if you would like.
(I also edited my first post, people can click on the link to get roms, i will post here as they become available.)
1872 is now finished.
I also went back and changed the jerseys in 1871. Until information is available in 1900 I will use basic reasoning for jerseys.
All jersey/pants are light grey. The helmet bat will be determined based on team name or my own decision.
Examples:
Chicago White Stockings 1871 grey jerseys, white helmet bat
Boston Red Stockings 1871, 1872 grey jerseys, red helmet bat
Baltimore Canaries 1872 grey jerseys, yellow helmet bat.
Enjoy!
Please add the Galactic Empire from FRBI V...and the Sally Cunts from FRBI V. And even the OC from FRBI III.
The National Assocation (what some consider the precursor to the National League and MLB) is finished.
1871 - 1875 are available for download!
Awesome man, keep up the good work. Very glad to see more people doing unique stuff for the community...
